Wego Drama Advances to the IHSA State Finals in Three Events
Following an impressive showing at the Lake Park Sectionals, Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School advances to the IHSA State Finals this upcoming weekend in Springfield. The IHSA Drama Competition events advancing are the 40-Minute Contest Play, the Group Interpretation, and the Student Short Film. It is a very exciting time for Wego Drama advancing with three events.
The Contest Play and the Group Interpretation both took second place in Sectionals. Additionally, several students were recognized and named All-Sectional Cast Members. For the Group Interpretation: Michael Angeles, Alexander Bradley, Sentia Irakoze, Kayliana Koeune, and Karidja Monjolo were named All-Sectional. For the Contest Play: Stephanie Alfaro, Kenya Bahena, Alexander Bradley, Lucas Brown, Ellie Hurley, Sentia Irakoze, Karidja Monjolo, and Ryley Salazar received the All-Sectional honors. It was a wonderful day for all.
The company of actors and crew for the show includes from Carol Stream: Arson Gutierrez, Sarah Larimer, and William Wenberg; from West Chicago: Mariana Acosta, Stephanie Alfaro, Noemi Amaro, Michael Angeles, Kenya Bahena, Alex Bradley, Lucas Brown, Guadalupe Carreto, Wil Cooper, Pamela Cruz, Danais Gomez-Garcia, Daniel Guevara, Sentia Irakoze, Nirali Kadakia, Kayliana Koeune, Chris Nunez, Edgar Oropeza, Romina Pietanza, Baron Plumlee, Jocelyn Ramirez, Alex Rocha, Vincent Ross, Ryley Salazar, and Dayan Zenteno; and from Winfield: Carolyn Fleming, Elizabeth Hurley, Avery Moffatt, and Mariah Varnado.
Mark Begovich directs the Wego Drama stage productions with Nicole Stadler. Technical Direction is by Christopher Jensen. Hair and make-up is by Jaime Elza. The student film is directed by Ryley Salazar with Alexander Bradley.
The State Finals take place this Friday and Saturday at Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois. Anyone may attend these events and information is available at IHSA.org.
