Ayden Russo Named September Student of the Month
2022-2023
West Chicago Community High School in Community High School District 94 has selected Ayden Russo of Winfield as Student of the Month for September 2022. Ayden was selected because he is a model student and exemplifies the core values of West Chicago Community: Learning, Living, Leading.
A senior, Ayden has been on High Honor Roll every semester of his high school career, earning a cumulative weighted grade point average (GPA) of 5.571. He is an AP Honor Scholar with Distinction, a member of the National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society.
Ayden has been involved in Freshman Soccer (captain), Basketball (captain), Senior Golf (captain), Wildcat Athletics Leadership Team and serves as a Pep Club member, Student Ambassador and ROAR mentor.
Outside of school, Ayden holds a part time job at Cantigny Golf mentoring young golfers, organizing events and providing excellent service. He also volunteers at PADS making beds and packing lunches, prepares meals with friends at Ronald McDonald House and helped his team set a packing record at Feed My Starving Children.
When asked about his favorite high school memory, Ayden recalls the WeGo football comeback during his junior year. “Being down big at halftime, and then fighting back hard to win by a large margin, really felt like symbolism of high school. You can either get down when things aren't going your way, or you can push through and have fun, ultimately leading to great things.”, he said.
Ayden has this advice for future Wildcats, “I think future WCCHS students should just learn to fully be themselves. Once you finally accept who you are, and don't care what others think, I believe that's when my high school experience was maximized, and I was having the most fun. The worst feeling in the world is acting like someone else just to fit in, so if you can get past that, there will be no bar for your success.”
After graduation, Ayden plans to attend college to study Business Finance.
