Convocation Center in Northern Illinois University (NIU)
5:00 PM – Seniors only for a quick rehearsal
Graduates are to enter through door #2 and #4 as shown on attached map.
6:00 PM – Doors open for parents and friends
7:00 PM – Ceremony begins.
Every person attending graduation must have a ticket to enter.
Special tickets are not needed for handicapped.
All guests ages 2 & up must have a ticket for graduation. Ten tickets per student.
NIU Policy:
- PARKING and ENTRANCE:
- Attached is a map for parking location and entrances
- NIU prohibits the following items:
- Bags, backpacks, duffels
- Laser pointers of any kind
- Coolers, bottles, cans, containers, or projectiles
- Weapons, flammables, or other potentially dangerous items
- Aerosol containers, or any pressurized container
- Horns, noisemakers, or whistles
- Any illegal substances
- Helium Balloons
- Posters, banners, or signs on sticks
- Golf Umbrellas
- Tripods, monopods, & selfie sticks
- Outside food & beverages (including Starbucks, Dunkin’, and other coffee brands)
- Guests may bring in 1 unopened, 20 oz. or smaller bottle of water.
- Strollers are not allowed in the stands.
Permitted Bags:
- Clear bags & do not exceed 12"x6"12"
- Small clutch bags, without a shoulder strap, which do not exceed 4.5" x 6.5" (approx. the size of a hand).
- Exception will be made for medically necessary items after proper inspection at the door.
Graduates and guests are asked to exit the Convocation Center immediately after the conclusion of the ceremony and ask that they respectfully follow NIU staff instructions.

All graduates will wear blue robes and caps. Caps CANNOT be decorated & stoles will not be permitted.
Appropriate dress for the Commencement Ceremony is as follows:
SENIOR CLASS BOYS: Shirt and tie (mandatory), dark pants, hard sole dress shoes
SENIOR CLASS GIRLS: Dress or dress slacks, comfortable shoes
JEANS, GYM SHOES, FLIP-FLOPS and THIN HEELS MAY NOT BE WORN

7:00 PM – Comienza la ceremonia
Toda persona que asista a la graduación debe tener un boleto para ingresar.
No se necesitan entradas especiales para minusválidos.
Todo invitado de edades de 2 ano en adelante necesitan un boleto de entrada. 10 boletos por estudiante.
Política de NIU:
- ESTACIONAMIENTO Y ENTRADA:
- Referirse al mapa adjunto para la ubicación de estacionamiento y entradas para usar
- Northern Illinois University (NIU) tiene prohibido los siguientes artículos:
- Bolsos, mochilas
- Láser de cualquier tipo
- lleleras, botellas, latas, recipientes
- Armas, objetos peligrosos
- Silbatos
- Cualquier sustancia ilegal
- Globos
- Carteles o letreros en palos
- Paraguas de golf
- Trespies, palos de selfie
- Comidas y bebidas externas (Starbucks, Dunkin', y otras marcas de café)
- Carriolas no están permitidos.
- Botella de agua de 20oz o pequeña no abierta es permitido de traer
Bolsas permitidas:
- Transparentes y Bolsas pequeñas, sin tirantes aprox. del tamaño de una mano.
- Se hará una excepción para los artículos médicos necesarios en la entrada
Se pide a los graduados e invitados que salgan del centro inmediatamente después de la conclusión de la ceremonia y que sigan respetuosamente las instrucciones del personal de NIU.

Todos los graduados usarán túnicas y gorras azules.
Las gorras NO SE PUEDEN decorar y Estolas no serán permitidas.
El vestido apropiado para la ceremonia es el siguiente:
Caballeros: Camisa y corbata (obligatorio), pantalones oscuros, zapatos de vestir
Damas: Pantalones de vestir o vestido, zapatos cómodos
PANTALON DE MESCLILLA, ZAPATOS DE GIMNASIO, CHANCLAS Y TACONES DELGADOS SON PROIBIDOS DE USAR
