Students Selected for ILMEA Music Festival

Eleven students from West Chicago Community High School have been selected by audition for the 2021 Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) District 9 Honor Festival which will take place at Dundee-Crown High School on Saturday, November 13.

The students are, from Carol Stream, Philip Calabrese (Choir, Tenor I, senior), Maggie Hancock (Choir, Alto II, senior), Sydney Radke (Choir, Alto II, senior), and Robert Washington Jr. (Choir, Bass II, senior). 

From West Chicago, Gerardo Avila (Choir, Tenor I, senior), AnnaBelle Beaird (Choir, Soprano I, junior), Analucia Lopez (Orchestra, Violin, junior), Grace Miller (Choir, Alto I, senior), Neela Myers (Band, Flute, sophomore), and Leah Nika (Choir, Soprano II, junior).

From Winfield, Mikail Herrera (Choir, Bass I, senior).

The students competed against over 1200 students in band, choir, and orchestra from DuPage, Kane, and parts of Will and Kendall counties. The highly competitive auditions required students to prepare scales, etudes and/or selected excerpts of music pieces. Auditions were conducted digitally and each student had to submit a video. 

The students are under the direction of Brandon Fantozzi (Choir), Marissa Rentner Janiszewski (Band) and Alexandra Wojciechowski (Orchestra).
