A few informational items for you:

1. Martin Luther King Day - Because of our late start due to construction, remote learning will  be held on Monday, January 18, 2021.  Student attendance is required.
2. Semester 1 exams will look different than usual. Please read the information below for details.

West Chicago High School 

Final Exam Schedule 2020-2021

This semester we will not administer traditional final exams.  For many reasons beyond our control a traditional final exam as the culmination of a semester is not practical or needed at this time.  In place of final exams teachers will use the time that would be devoted to final exams to continue meeting with students, offering makeup opportunities and reinforcing the learning that has already occurred.  Some classes will have final projects or evaluations of learning but it will be different than our traditional final exam schedule.

Schedule:  In order to allow time for teachers and students to work together on wrapping up the semester and to ensure that culminating activities don’t happen on the same day for some students we will utilize the following schedule the final four days of semester 1.  As you will notice there is considerable time the last two days of the semester for makeups, outreach and student to teacher communication.  This time is intended to allow staff to work with students who may be struggling at the end of the semester or to develop contracts with students who demonstrate proficiency during the second semester to have their first semester grade changed.

2. Los exámenes del primer semestre se verán diferentes a lo acostumbrado. Por favor lean la información adjunta para más detalles.

Preparatoria de West Chicago “High School”

Horario de Exámenes Finales 2020-2021

Este semestre no administraremos exámenes finales. Por muchas razones más allá de nuestro control, un examen final para culminar el semestre no es práctico o necesario en este momento. En lugar de exámenes finales utilizaremos el tiempo para dedicarlo a los estudiantes, ofrecerles oportunidades para reponer materias y reafirmar el aprendizaje que ya ha ocurrido. Algunas materias tendrán proyectos finales o evaluaciones de aprendizaje, pero serán diferentes al horario tradicional de exámenes.

Horario: Para dar espacio para que los maestros y estudiantes trabajen juntos y poner los toques finales al semestre y asegurarse de que las actividades culminantes no ocurran el mismo día para todos los estudiantes, vamos a utilizar el siguiente horario durante los últimos cuatro días del primer semestre. Como podrán ver, hay una cantidad considerable de tiempo los dos últimos días para reponer materias, superación y comunicación entre estudiantes y maestros. Este tiempo tiene el propósito de permitir que los maestros trabajen con los estudiantes que podrían estar batallando al final del semestre, o crear acuerdos con los estudiantes que se esmeren y demuestren fluidez durante el segundo semestre, y así lograr que sus calificaciones del primer semestre mejoren.
