The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School continues their 2019-20 season with a powerful production of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” presented Nov. 7-9, 2019. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for adults available in advance at wegotheatre.com or at the door. The production will take place at the school in Weyrauch Auditorium, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago.

The play, adapted by Simon Stephens, is based on the award-winning novel by Mark Haddon. The story is about Christopher Boone, an autistic teenager, who sets off to solve a mystery and experiences a grand adventure. Through humor and heartbreak, a family has their secrets come out to the world. From novel to stage, the production includes a “play within a play.”

Wego Drama President Ryan Castiglia states, “Telling this story is incredibly challenging.  It is honestly the hardest show we’ve done in four years. Yet, it is also one of the most significant.”

Nathan Bradley adds, “I am so excited to be in this show. Playing Christopher is an actor’s dream.  We go on his adventure and learn a great deal. The entire company is committed to bringing awareness to the strengths of people who live a life that is different than the norm.”

Noemi Lara concludes, “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time” is significant to our society. I am positive that the audience will be mesmerized by the story and all the storytelling that we do on stage. The technical work is some our coolest ever. I am so proud to share this work with the audience, because this story must be told.”

Included in the production is special guest Maleficient Elza.  The play is directed by Mark Begovich. Scenic design is by Chris Jensen.  Costume design is by kClare McKellaston.  Hair and Make-up is by Jamie Elza.

The show is Thursday-Saturday, Nov. 7-9 at 7:00 p.m. at Community High School, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago.  Tickets are $5 for students and $8 for adult and are available at wegotheatre.com and the door. The production of the award-winning play based on the novel by Mark Haddon and adapted by Simon Stephens is produced by arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, New York.
