WeGo Drama Returns to Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2020

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School will represent the community, Illinois, and the United States at the 2020 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. After a successful performance in 2016, Wego Drama will participate again and preparations are underway for a stellar show at the 2020 Fringe.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world’s largest performing arts festival. Over 53,000 performances from all over the globe will perform at the Festival with over 2.5 million tickets sold annually. Founded in 1947, the Festival will celebrate its 73rd year in 2020. Wego Drama is proud to perform their work on this global stage.

Nathan Bradley, Wego Drama’s Vice-President for Travel, explains what this trip means to the students and the community. “I was very fortunate to be able to attend this trip to the Fringe Festival in 2016; the Fest opened my eyes to all sorts of amazing ways art can be expressed. Showcasing the talent of the West Chicago community allows us to put our country, state, and community on the global arts map. This opportunity allows many young performers to let their love for theater grow, and learn many new things about the arts, other cultures, and simply, the greater world we live in today. That being said, I am super exited for being given this opportunity; the support from the community has been amazing and we need your continued support.”

In order to attend, there is a great deal of prep work and special events planned. There will be monthly “Eat-Out” events in the community. Details can be found at www.d94.org/fundraising. Additionally, there is a WCCHS “Garage Sale” on September 14 and 15.
