Maria Giannoudakos Named May Student of the Month

West Chicago Community High School has selected Maria Giannoudakos of Carol Stream as Student of the Month for May, 2019. A senior, Giannoudakos was chosen for her excellent academic record, participation in activities, and making WeGo a welcoming place for all students.

 Giannoudakos has been on High Honor Roll or Honor Roll every semester of her high school career at WCCHS and has earned a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.543. She is a member of National Honor Society.

Skilled at balancing academic excellence with school involvement, Giannoudakos has been involved with Art Club, Club Green, Student Council and WeGo Global, and is the founder of the Podcast Club.

Outside of school, Giannoudakos has volunteered with the League of Women Voters, Feed My Starving Children, Covenant House, Refugees International, Amnesty International, with a local food pantry, and helping to create a butterfly garden with Club Green. In addition, Giannoudakos holds a part-time job as a waitress.

When asked about her favorite high school memory, Giannoudakos states, “Everything I do in WeGo Global.”

Giannoudakos has this advice for future Wildcats, “Don’t stress about school too much, grades don’t determine your worth.”

Giannoudakos plans to attend North Central College as a Sociology major. She hopes to become an urban planner or a lawyer.


Maria Giannoudakos
