West Chicago Community High School has selected Neve Ryan of West Chicago as Student of the Month for February, 2019. A senior, Ryan was chosen for outstanding academic performance, leadership, and service to community.
Ryan has been on High Honor Roll or Honor Roll every semester of her high school career and is a member of National Honor Society. She has earned a cumulative weighted GPA of 5.117, and is currently taking a full schedule of classes, including AP English Literature, AP Chemistry, Honors Pre-Calculus, and Honors Acapella Chamber Choir. She recently participated in Voice of Democracy.
A very involved student, Ryan has been involved with WeGo Drama all 4 years and is currently serving as president. She participates in Speech Team, Choir and Chamber Choir, and has served on Tech Crew and as a Student Ambassador.
Outside of school, Ryan holds a part time job at a local ice cream shop, and volunteers as a student aide with religious education classes at her church.
When asked about her favorite high school memory, Ryan says, “Placing 6th at state for IHSA Group Interpretation. We worked really hard and it was an incredible experience, especially as a freshman.”
Ryan has this advice for future Wildcats, “Get involved early and try different things to figure out what you really love to do.”
Ryan is deciding between Loyola and Marquette University to study Communications. She plans to work in the business/marketing side of theater.
