Grecia Bahena Selected for All-State Festival Production

WeGo Drama senior, Grecia Bahena, has been selected to participate in the All-State Production of “In the Heights” that will be performed Jan. 10-12, 2019 as part of the Illinois High School Theatre Festival at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

The show is the highlight of the annual Illinois High School Theatre Festival, the largest non-competitive high school theatre festival in the world. The festival theme of “Take Flight” is led by IHSTF Executive Director Annaliisa Ahlman (Niles North HS) and features the Broadway smash hit “In the Heights” as its All-State production. The All-State cast, crew, and pit orchestra is comprised of the top student performers, technicians, and musicians, in the state of Illinois. “In the Heights” will be performed throughout the Festival.

When asked what being a part of the All-State show means, Bahena responds, “All-State means getting to be a part of something bigger than myself or my school. I get to work with so many talented and amazing people who are dedicated to their craft. I love seeing everything come together to tell a story!” Bahena is the first All-State Company member from West Chicago Community High School since 2014.

The Illinois High School Theatre Festival is for the over 4500 registered participants and is not open to the public. For more information, contact Mark Begovich at or visit
