Kamalkumar Patel Named Student of the Month for October
West Chicago Community High School has selected Kamalkumar Patel of West Chicago as Student of the Month for October, 2018. A senior, Patel was selected for his optimism, work ethic and leadership.
Patel has been on Honor Roll or High Honor Roll virtually every semester of his high school career. He has a cumulative weighted GPA of 4.850. He is a member of the Spanish Foreign Language Honor Society.
A very involved student, Patel is a member of Health Occupations of America, Math Team, Business Professionals of America, and Student Council. A three-year member of the Cross Country team, Patel was a captain both junior and senior years. He also ran Track & Field for 3 years, and will compete again this spring.
Outside of school, Patel has volunteered at Central DuPage Hospital for the past year, and at BAPS temple for the past 5 years. In addition to his schoolwork, school involvement, and volunteer work, Patel holds a part time job as a pharmacy technician.
When asked about his favorite high school memory, Patel recalls, “Qualifying for Sectionals as a team for Cross Country and making history in West Chicago after 9 years.”
Patel has this advice for future Wildcats: “Work hard and it will pay off, especially if you are passionate about what you do. Also, try to find something that you enjoy, and always be nice and helpful to others.”
After graduation, Patel plans to attend UIC for undergraduate studies, hoping to become a pharmacist. He plans to join a running club at UIC.
