Nathan Rutledge Named Academic Achiever for October
West Chicago Community High School has selected Nathan Rutledge of West Chicago as the Academic Achiever for the month of October, 2018. Rutledge is the first student selected to receive this new recognition, which acknowledges students with the top 10 grade point averages throughout the school year.
With a GPA of 5.622, Rutledge has the highest GPA among senior students at West Chicago Community High School. He has earned High Honor Roll status every semester of his high school career, and is a member of National Honor Society, and the Spanish Foreign Language Honor Society.
Having mastered the balance between academic excellence and participation in extracurricular activities, Rutledge is involved in Science Club, and is a 3-sport scholar-athlete, playing golf, hockey and lacrosse. He was named All-Conference for both golf and hockey, and was named All-State for hockey. Rutledge is also a 4-year member of the lacrosse team.
When asked what strategies or tools he uses to balance his time, Rutledge mentions, “Great time management. I use my time at school wisely, and I keep on track with homework and assignments.”
Rutledge’s advice for success for future students is, “Challenge yourself. Take courses that best fit your abilities and courses that interest you.”
After graduation, as he enjoys math and science, Rutledge plans to study Engineering at University of Illinois, Purdue, or Northwestern University.
