West Chicago Community High School has selected Jacob Kurian of
Winfield as Student of the Month for March, 2017. A senior, Kurian was chosen
for being an outstanding student who strives to be the best while also helping
peers in need.
Kurian has been on High Honor Roll throughout his high school career. He is a member of National Honor Society and the Foreign Language Honor Society, and is an Illinois State Scholar and a National Hispanic Scholar. He is currently taking three AP classes; AP English Literature, AP Spanish Language, and AP Chemistry.
A four-year athlete, Kurian has competed at the varsity level in gymnastics beginning freshman year, and was a state qualifier. Kurian is a member of the Math Team, Future Business Leaders of America, and is a peer tutor in Algebra 1.
Outside of school, Kurian is a Guest Services volunteer at a local hospital.
When asked about a favorite high school memory, Kurian recalls being a “Pom Boy” at the Homecoming Assembly last September.
Kurian has this advice for future WCCHS students, “Find what you are passionate about and do it to the best of your ability.”
After graduation, Kurian will attend Northwestern University to study chemical engineering.
