Holiday Giving at WCCHS

Giving is a hallmark of West Chicago Community High School, and that is especially true during the holidays. Students and staff have been busy with many giving projects this season.

Students in Interact Club and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) raked leaves for senior citizens in the community. Students in Compass Club raked leaves at West Chicago Community High School.

Interact Club assisted West Chicago Rotary Club with their Candy Day fundraiser.

SkillsUSA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), and FBLA worked together organizing a can drive to benefit the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Over 845 cans were donated.

WeGo Global held a Chicken Challenge to provide flocks of chickens to families in developing countries. Students raised $1053 which will provide roughly 50 flocks of chickens. They also raised $1758 and donated it to Feed My Starving Children.

The AVID classes organized a Holiday Sock Drive, collecting over 100 pairs of holiday themed socks and donating them to the children’s ward at Central DuPage Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.

The Ready B Special Education classes collected items for donation to the homeless. They packed and wrapped books to be donated to the Juvenile system in Kane County. They collected and donated books for the youth section of the West Chicago Public Library. And, they volunteered at Feed My Starving Children.

The staff at West Chicago Community High School adopted 4 families through the Winfield Township Adopt-a-Family program. In addition, staff provided coats, hats and gloves to WCCHS students who were in need of cold weather outerwear.
