Safety & Security

West Chicago Community High School District 94 is dedicated to fostering a safe and welcoming environment for all students, families, staff, and visitors.

To support this commitment, WCCHS staff regularly collaborate with the West Chicago Police and Fire Departments, as well as other community partners, to conduct risk assessments, develop emergency plans, coordinate response strategies, and provide training for both staff and students.

We encourage you to take a moment to review WCCHS’s emergency and severe weather notification procedures. Understanding these procedures can help ensure a smooth response when a significant emergency occurs during the school day or when decisions are made to delay or cancel school. Missing notifications please review your information within PowerSchool or contact WCCHS D94 Communications Coordinator Brittney Walker at (630) 876-6215 or bwalker@d94.org

Please note: WCCHS does not issue school-wide notifications for all individual medical emergencies. In such cases, the WCCHS Safety Department and/or Emergency Medical Services (911) will respond based on the specific circumstances.

Outlined below are the general steps WCCHS follows in response to the following emergency actions: Hold, Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate and Shelter. In any emergency situation, it is critical that everyone on campus follows instructions carefully, as procedures may evolve in real-time based on the nature of the incident.

Students and staff will receive training on these emergency actions, and regular drills will be conducted throughout the school year to ensure preparedness.
