Drivers Education
Welcome to the SE10 webpage. All of your driver’s education questions can be answered here.
In order to get a driver’s license in the state of Illinois, a student must take and pass the classroom portion of driver’s education, SE10. A student also must complete six (6) hours of behind the wheel (BTW) and observe for six (6) hours in a vehicle with a certified instructor. The BTW portion is an elective, and if a student chooses to not complete BTW, they must wait until the age of 18 to get a driver’s license. Students are required to take and pass SE10 in order to graduate. SE10 is offered sophomore year opposite of one (1) semester of sophomore physical education. The BTW portion is an elective and is offered during SE10 or by arrangement through Wildcat Drive School. The cost for BTW or Wildcat Drive School is $300. Students are assigned BTW in the classroom based on age and completion of payment. Students who are not in the BTW portion of SE10 can do Wildcat Drive School. In order to be in Wildcat Drive School, students must have a valid permit, complete the Wildcat Drive School application, and be paid in full before being assigned to an instructor. Wildcat Drive School applications can be turned in to Janette Hernandez at Entrance H along with payment. Payment plans are available. We also offer summer school SE10 and BTW. Questions can be directed to your child’s teacher or Mr. Parry.
