Welcome. My name is Shane O. and this is my web page. I am a seventeen year old senior at west Chicago Community High School. I live in the wonderful village of Winfield. It sucks greatly. The cops there have nothing better to do then harass teenagers. I am moving into a nice big house now. The cool part is that now I live kiddy corner from my friend Matt. We both play volleyball and I play for a club called Sports Performance in the off-season. I have been to many places in my life. I have been on two cruises that have been out of the country. I have been to many different places like St. Maartens and Cozumel. I have also been to Florida, Wisconsin, and Colorado. I the future I would like to attend Northern Illinois University or Illinois State University.
I am leaning to the right side of the spectrum. This makes me a Republican. I am only a moderate republican though. I agree with a lot of the issues that republicans have but I also agree with some democratic issues. I disagree with most of the Democratic issues. We believe that the state government should have more power so that they can worry about the people in their state and help them out more. The federal government can worry about the country more because it won't have to worry about the states as much.
Some of the issues that I believe in are abortion, and foreign affairs. I am pro-life because I think an unborn child has the right to live even if the baby wasn't created out of love or if the baby isn't wanted. One of the big issues that I am interested in is staying out of foreign affairs. I believe even more strongly now because of the fatal tragedy that happened. This happened, I think, because we chose sides in a foreign affair and the side we didn't choose attacked us. I am also for gun control. I think people on the street should feel safe knowing that other people don't have guns on them. We should also be stricter on criminals.
Hi, My name is KORY K. You've got mail... or not I am currently located in West Chicago and I plan NOT to stay for very long. I like to have a GOOD TIME all the time, but most of the time I don't have the time to have a good time. Sometimes I am trying to learn something but I realized that I had already learned what I was trying to learn so in all, It is hard to learn something that you have already learned...
I found myself finally after all this contradiction inside
of my head. I decided I had to be strict at something or what
was the point of being in the middle and agreeing with everyone.
What I found was that I am a strict republican and I know that
I can have great influence to move our party to be successful
in creating a well sustained government.
One of my main issues is racial profiling. I believe at a time
like this it is very important to execute racial profiling. If
we have top suspect everyone, we may miss those who we really
know who's fault it is. We CANNOT let these people slip through
our fingers, we must find them and then detain them for good.
This brings up another issue I am for, the death penalty. You
say that "killing" is wrong, but really we are trying
to preserve our morals by getting rid of people that commit these
immoral acts. Something that hits me closer to home that I feel
like I can have a view in is tightening down on gangs, and working
to weave them OUT of our country. I believe if you get caught
doing true gang-related activities you should have to pay the
consequences of what you did. If you get caught doing nothing,
but you are with some sort of gang, you should be punished. I
know this doesn't affect the entire country so much as it does
here, but it is still something that we must work on.
I grew up in West Chicago and I went to Calvary Christian School for my elementary life. Then I went to public school for junior high and high school life. I used to figure Skate competitively for 6 years. That was almost 7 years ago. I dance know. I have been doing that for the past 2 years. After high school I plan to attend Columbia College in Chicago and go into Interior Design or Fashion Design. On the political spectrum I stand to the right side. I am a strict Republican. I agree with the majority of the republican values. I believe in the death Penalty. An eye for an eye. If you kill someone then you should be killed. You should be punished for your actions. Jails are to easy know a days. I also stand for prayer in public schools. If you wish not to participate that don't get involved. There are by offends many thing people but they cut prayer in schools out. I am for profile. I don't agree that the rich should have to support the poor. I think you should work for what you get. The rich should not have to suffer because of the poor. I think in cases like the terrorist attacks the government is good fore helping us. The federal and state government I think is important. I agree with the state government. The state should choose for their own state that they know which is best. If a couple decides to they are ready to have sex then they should be ready to have a kid. Unless under certain matters like rape or incest. I believe abortion should be banned. The flat tax I think is a good idea because I don't believe you should be punished for how much money you make. My belief on crime is that people should be punished equally for the amount of crime that they commit. If they go and murder someone they should be punished equally or worse. They took someone's life their life should be taken from them not be put in jail for leisure time. They should punish the way that made other people punish. I think those person who live in poverty is a sad thing. I think that country doesn't notice how some people suffer. Because they can't find a job. Those that live in poverty because they are too lazy or abuse drugs or alcohol I don't feel sorry for them. I think that we should have for younger children who need it. Those children who are six years old who listen to music that is inappropriate that is what censorship is for? Environmental issues I think are a concern. Because if we don't take care of our environment then we have no chance to survive. I think with all the terrorist attacks we need to start be stricter on who enter our country. People must come in the legal way so they could pay taxes. The national debt is an important thing it tells who we owe to we should support it.
I am a senior at West Chicago High School. Before I came to West Chicago High School I currently attended Benjamin Middle School. I live with a family of four in Carol Stream and I have practically been there for my whole life. Some things to know about me.....I have brownish blondish hair and about 5'4. ith blue eyes. I'm 17 years old and was born on April 17th at Central Dupage Hospital. Some of the things I like to do for fun are hang out with friends, go shopping, almost anything except sitting around (because that gets boring after awhile), and I like to go to the movies. One thing I am known for are ducks because when I laugh I sound like a duck! So my friends all call me "Quackie." Right now I am currently working at Mario's Pizza and when I'm not working there I'm helping out at my parent's bar that they just opened. When it comes to boyfriends...we just currently broke up..which is ok because we couldn't be better friends then we are now. After high school I plan to go to COD for two years to study to become a elementary school teacher. After all this I still have time to relax:)
When looking at the political spectrum I feel I am on the right side of the spectrum. The reason I am on the right side is because I don't agree with abortion, but only on some cases such as if the get raped or incest. You made the wrong decision so, I feel you should keep the baby if you made the mistake, or give it up for adoption. Another thing is I agree with the death penalty if you did something really bad, such as Timothy Mcvae, I feel that they made the right choice to do what they did, because he killed about 100 or more people for no reason and it wasn't called for. So these are the two things that I feel that I'm on the right side of the spectrum. 3. Some thing's I have very strong views on are abortion and how it should be treated. I also feel very strong on the death penalty and that I personally agree with it. The last thing I agree with is prisoners get stricter punishment, because the punishment they get now is not very strong at all, they are treated way too well. These are some of the issues that I personally agree with 100%.
GIANNA P. Moderate Republican
My name is Gianna P. and I am 17 years old, I grew up in the town
of Carol Stream. I attended Evergreen School grades 1-4, I attended
Benjamin Middle School grades 5-8, and now I am attending West
Chicago High School. I am a pon pom and I love to dance. I have
been a pom for three years now. I am a gymnastics teacher at Gymnasti
and also at Barttlet Gymnastics Center. I currently am living
in West Chicago with my mother. We have lived in West Chicago
for 3 years now. I have two dogs, Noel and Gizmo. My mother is
a 7th grade teacher at Blackhawk Middle School. She has been a
teacher for 5 years now. In the future I plan on being a teacher
and going to Arizona State University. I hope to be seccessful
and have a family in the future. I have high hopes and many goals
for myself. I feel at this point I am near the middle but more
to the right side of the spectrum. One issue that leans me to
the left would be that the government should be more involved
with education perposes. Like equal opprotunities to all the children
in the United States. I feel that all schools should have equal
opprotunities. Why I am closer to the middle is because abortion
I feel is religiously wrong to me, but politicaly it is the womans
right to do whatever she decides. I an confused on that issue
which makes me more in the middle. I lean to the right because
I hate taxes. Why should everyone pay to support welfare and people
that don't have jobs. I can see paying taxes sometimes for schools
and activities but not for people that are lazy and can't get
jobs. Why should I work my butt off and have to pay for other
people. So right now I am more in the middle because I have different
opinions for both sides. I call myself a moderate republican beacuse
I am not a strict republican cause i feel for somethings that
lean closer to the left side of the spectrum. I feel there should
be no welfare. Why should people that woek hard and earn their
own money have to pay for the people that may be lazy and not
want jobs. People that are on wealfare know that people will pay
for them if they are on welfare, and that gives them another reason
not to get a job. I beleive in flat taxes where everyone should
pay the same amount of money in taxes weather you are rich or
poor. So I put myself as a moderate republican.
DANIEL C. Moderate Republican
I was born in Naperville at Edward Hospital. Yes I'm a born Napervillian
but I despise those people so it's all good. I have traveled kind
of all over the North Western Hemisphere. I've been to Washington
D.C. twice to Baltimore. I've been to Gettysburg and to Hawaii.
My favorite things to do are paint, listen to and play music,
talk to my girlfriend and mess with computers. After high school
I plan on getting married to my girlfriend and going to COD to
get my associates degree in Physical Therapy Assistance. After
that I want to work with either children or work while I go to
school for more PT training or another field all together. I've
got a wide range of futures ahead and I plan on getting the best
one.
My place on the political spectrum is pretty moderate but I tend to lean towards the republican views on some things. I do not believe in the flat tax however I do feel that the government should leave local governments to the main problems involving them not everyone. I do think that the government should regulate the economy to prevent large-scale poverty as in the 1930s. I also think that capital punishment is effective and should be used more. But then again I do think that the government should help foreign nations to an extent but I think that we should defend ourselves to the last man if it comes to it. I think that civil rights are a privilege and by violating someone else's rights you forfeit your own and should be incarcerated and stripped of their civil rights.
One of the issues I am addressing is to amend the constitution to give the president the power to line veto. This means he can read through a bill before passing it into law and anything he disagrees with that involves government spending he can veto just that part of the bill and pass the rest into law. However I think that after that there should be a bipartisan committee that then reviews the bill and decides if it is legitimate and then finally seal it as law. I am all for the death penalty and I want it to be used more. I don't care what some democrats or liberals think. It is a good idea and it works. I think that people that say it is bad and that it is evil and things are simply following their religious beliefs and the last time I checked this was a non-religion influenced country. I have no official religion since I was never baptized. This means that I have no influence from any religion in how I feel government should be run. I am pro-choice but only in certain instances or regulations if you will. I think that both the father and mother of the child should agree to abort it before they can. I also think that the mother can only have a certain number of abortions before they are no longer preformed for her. Also I obviously think that rape pregnancies or deadly ones and things like that can be aborted. So as you can see I am very much on both sides of the spectrum which plants me right in the middle by balancing. I also feel that many people in this nation of all ages are extremely ignorant of how the government works. I think that they should be educated in its processes and the facts rather than their stereotypes and rumors
SEAN S. Republican
My name is Sean and I go to West Chicago Community High. I
grew up in Chicago, and moved to West Chicago in 6th grade. I
am currently a senior and am in Ms. Daneels 7/8 Government class.
After high school, I plan on going to college to get a degree
in engineering. I am also interested in high performance cars
and motorsports.
I am a moderate Republican and am on the right of the spectrum. I am not a very strict republican because I hold different views on certain issues and am not as hardcore as some. Some of my biggest views that make me a Republican are on that of the size and power of our government. I believe that central government should not interfere in private businesses, and that the actual power of the government is very limited. I am also for the right to bear arms, and the idea of a flat tax. The few things that make me moderate are my views on abortion and censorship. I am Pro-Choice and against censorship and believe in freedom of speech and expression.
I feel strongly on the issues of abortion and that of a flat tax. I On abortion, I am Pro-Choice and believe that there should be regulations on abortion for safety and sanitary reasons, but I believe that it is ultimately the right for the woman to choose. I am also for a flat tax because I believe that the wealthy should not be penalized for that reason. A hard working person should not be penalized for working hard and making a good living. I am also for Capital Punishment and believe that the punishment should fit the crime, and death is punishable by such.
Hi! My name is Maggie!!! I was born on December 14, 1983. I live in Carol Stream, where I have lived my whole life, with the excpetion of living in Roselle until I was two. I went to Evergreen Elementary School (1st-4th grades), Benjamin Middle School (5th-8th grades), and am now a senior at West Chicago Community High School. My favorite subject is English and of course Government. (Do I get extra credit now, Ms. Daneels?) My worst subject is definitely math! I don't understand why I need to know the measurement of a right triangle or to prove any proofs!!! After I graduate, I hope to attend Columbia College in Chicago and study photography. I am currently involved in color guard, and have been for the past three years. I have been to two color guard competitions, and we have won first place both times!!! Last year, I was co-captain alongside Jamie and Heather. Also, I work as a phone chick at Papa Saverio's Pizzeria in Carol Stream. In my free time, I like to hang out with my friends and my wonderful boyfriend, Sergio. I love you, Sweetie! I am a caucus leader for the Democratic Party in 7/8. I am quite a strong democrat and place to the left in just about every situation. If not to the left, I am moderate on a few issues. I am placed to the left because I am a strong believer in a woman's right to choose. Except for partial-birth abortions, I believe a woman has the right to choose what happens to her body. In partial-birth abortions, that baby can live outside the mother's womb. Therefore, she is committing murder. A woman should be able to decide if she wants to keep the baby by her third trimester! I also believe that there should be an equal distribution of wealth. If someone can afford to help others, then why not tax them! Taxes are only to help others who will further help the economy flourish. Also, I feel we should help out in foreign affairs and aid poorer countries. We are seen as the strongest country in the world. We should use our power and strength to help others become strong, too. Also, I believe that minority rights like homosexual rights should be protected more. Until we can live in a world where everything is fair and equal, and no one is discriminated against for their race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual preference, they need special protection. Hopefully, one day minorities will not need their rights protected, and those petty things won't matter. Another issue that I agree with is healthcare for everyone. We shouldn't deny people the right to be healthy. Everyone has the constitutional right to life. So no one should turn someone else away and deny them in a time that could be crucial to them living. Therefore, all people should receive healthcare. In that case, I at least feel that all children should be given healthcare. They are dependent upon their parents and others for help. If their parents cannot afford health insurance, they should not be punished for something they cannot control. Still, there is one issue in particular that I place more to the middle or right on. And that is education in jail. If a person is stupid enough to commit a severe crime, then they gave away their priviledges to getting an education. Education is a priviledge, not a right. Therefore, a criminal should have these priviledges like education revoked. They lost them, now they have to pay the price! Well, I hope you have enjoyed hearing my views!
ANTHONY D. Democrat
I was born on August 3, 1984, in Winfield, Illinois, and, unfortunately,
have lived in DuPage County all of my life (I would really have
liked to travel more, but oh, well). Currently, I am 17 years
old, and I grow up in a family of 5 (including myself). My father,
who has probably had the most influence on my political feelings
today, is a piano tuner, but is more known as "Mr. History"
in our family because he knows more than some of my past history
teachers, and is a HUGE Civil War buff. He is also an EXTREMELY
STRONG liberal who will voice his opinions about anything and
everybody, just like me. My mother, a registered nurse, is also
very liberal, but just doesn't voice her opinions as openly as
my father. My two brothers, Tommy and Robby, are too young to
care about politics. My hobbies include watching game shows (especially
"Press Your Luck"), playing golf (I stink at it, though),
and listening to music (Beatles, Styx, The Who, and others from
this era). I work in Waldenbooks in Stratford Square, so I get
to really work at balancing my demanding school curriculum and
work at the same time! It's amazing that I keep my sanity! Eventually,
when I graduate from high school, I plan to go to a 4-year college
(haven't decided where just yet) with a major in either mathematics
or chemistry with an emphasis to teach. I plan to either teach
high school or college when I finish grad school (I plan to go
all the way for a Ph.D).
I am a very liberal person who has a STRONG devotion to the Democratic Party. On a scale of 1-10, with 1 being the most liberal and 10 the most conservative, I fall at 1 because I feel very strongly about many issues (some of which will be explained below), and I always lean toward the liberal side, sometimes falling over because I lean over so much. I have NO conservative views, with the exception of having English as the official language, but, even with this I lean toward the liberal side. Certain issues that really identify me as a liberal include the fact that I am for progressive tax over flat tax, I am pro-choice when it comes to abortion, I want the federal government to have more power and say in the nation, and less for the state governments, and I want to legalize marijuana, which is DEFINITELY not a Conservative view!
One of the issues that I do feel very strongly about is having a progressive tax system as opposed to a flat tax. I feel this way because, if we go with a flat tax system, it's clear that the rich will save tens of thousands of dollars, which in turn comes out of the lower and middle class pockets, and, since I am middle class, I don't want to see my taxes go up just so some rich guy can add another story to his house or put a new Corvette in his garage. Pro-choice abortion is another issue that I feel strongly to the left about. It is my belief that a woman should be allowed to do whatever she wants with her body. Sure, killing a baby, even if life begins at conception, may be a sin, but it is definitely NOT our right to tell another woman that she can't have an abortion simply because it's "just not right." Having a federally-controlled school system with less emphasis on standardized tests and more of an emphasis on teaching is my third issue that I feel strongly to the left about because schools shouldn't be judged on whether their students can fill in a bunch of little bubbles with a No. 2 pencil. It should be about teaching; in other words, if you are going to judge and evaluate a school, evaluate its teachers because, in my opinion, good teachers mean good students. This may not be true in every case, but it should be a general rule because all it takes is one bad teacher to ruin a kid's education. Besides, if standardized tests continue to be as high-stakes as they are right now, teachers will continue to just adjust their curriculum to the test. We should be educating, not giving out answers for a Scantron test! These are a few of the reasons why I lean so far to the left. I am VERY liberal, and I am not afraid to let everyone know it!
MICHAEL T. Democrat
Yo this is the one and only Michael T. I was born on May 1 1984
in Central Dupage Hospital. As a child I attended St Mary's a
catholic school here in West Chicago. I went there from preschool
through eigth grade, it was hell but I survived. I haved lived
here all my life and plan to leave this dumb town as soon as i
can. I enjoy spending my free time playing basketball and deejaying
at clubs and dance partys. I have been a deejay since I was twelve.
One day I plan to own my own international record label and a
club.
As far as my postion on the polotical spectrum i'm a DEMOCRAT! Reasons for joining this party is I beleve it is the goverments job to give a standard of living. Also the goverment should provide citizens with programs and aid if they qulify. Also corprate companys should be watched so not to cheat their workers. With a large goverment we are able to take care of our citizens and provide assistance.
Some democratic views I think we should enforce are, we should have stricter gun control laws with out these laws their would just be more death. Also i'm for proprivecy all though in the recent bombing attacks I believe we might lose some of these rights for the time being. I agree that women should have the ablity for pro choice. I believe their should be equal funding for schools. The future of tomorrow lies in the minds of the youth today.
I was born January 17, 1984 in Arlington Heights, Illinois. I spent the first years of my life in Villa Park. I then moved to Carol Stream. I played soccer for the Carol Stream Panthers traveling team for 3 years. When I was like 11 I moved to West Chicago. I joined the Raider's cheerleading team. Since then I have been a cheerleader. This year I'm captain for Varsity Football/Basketball Cheerleading. I enjoy cheerleading and I think doing it was the highlight of my high school year. I've always been interested in the dancing and alot of the time you see just busting a move for no reason, but yeah. I'm also Vice-President of Pep Club. After high school I plan on attending one of the cardinal direction colleges and majoring in either Marketing or Teaching. I also plan to be the head leader of the Umpa Lumpa group. =)
I thought I was a strong democrat, but it turns out I actually proved myself wrong. I'm actually a Moderate Democrat. For alot of issues I'm a strong democrat for, but some I believe in the Republican views. I'm to the left of the political spectrum. I believe the government should be a large government and it should not be run in the states. The government has done a fine job of running our country and it should stay that way.
Some issues that are my major concerns for the democratic side is the issue on abortion. I personally am Pro-Choice. I believe that the women should have the right to choose what happens to her during birth. I don't believe that the government or the states should be able to have a say in this issue. Another issue is the progressive tax. I mean if I can help benefit someone out there that needs help I would. It makes me feel good knowing that someone out there is being helped by me. Or that my taxes are going to help better school in the state. I think immigration is good also. Immigration is what got our country started and I believe we shouldn't set quotas for people they should pass the test and know the language and be able to find a job and they can stay in our country for as long as they like. Those are my strongest issues. My strongest republican issue is the death penalty. They should be killed for hurting innocent people and that's all there is to it.
Hi! My name is Kristi H. I am a senior at West Chicago High School. I was born on March 24, 1984. I am currently seventeen years old. I was born at Elmhurt Memorial Hospital, in Villa Park and I have lived in Illinois my whole life. I have three sisters, two half, one whole. I work at the Honda dealership in Lisle. I enjoy to dance outside of school. I have never really traveled far from home before, with the exception of a few family vacations or school trips. I am planning on going to college at The University of Arizona. I am not quite sure what my major will be but I will probably end up with a degree in business. As of now I seem to be leaning torward the left side of the spectrum. I seem to be more liberal, or Democratic. I believe that the government should be the equalizer of society. I don't believe that local or state governments should have more control then the federal government. The federal government helps to equalize society. I believe that taxes are good! I believe in the progressive tax system. I don't believe that the progressive tax system is in any way punishing the rich. I believe that it just helps the economy maintain some what of a balance. I believe that it is the governments job to insure that everyone has an equal chance to succeed. It is everyone in society's right to have their basic needs met. I believe in pro-choice. It is a women's right to decide what they want to do with their body and kid. I believe everyone has a right to privacy. I don't believe the police should be able to search you just because they think they have reason. I believe in separation of church and state. Everyone has a right to believe what they want and it shouldn't effect them in everyday parts of society. I am strongly opposed to the death penalty. NO ONE has the right to take away someone else's life, even if they have killed someone.
My name is Kyle S. I was born in Florida on october 10, 1983 and moved in Chicago and then moved to West Chicago.I spend most of my time hanging out with some friends and going snowboarding and playing hockey. My family likes to go on more then one vacation a year, we sometimes travel to Florida, Texas, and Wisconsin, and sometimes we travel to canada to go snowboarding. I believe iam more on the left side of the spectrume with the librals side. I think the federal government should be limited in power to this nation. I also think the government should stay out of other nations problems. We get involved in their problems then we are just creating are own problems. The goverment should focus more on are countries problems then other counties problems. I believe in pro choice for abortion. Why have a baby if you cant take care of it and for it to have unhappy american life. I also believe in trickle down for the economy. IF the government gave money to the businesses it will create more jobs for the poor to get more money. But i also think that their should still be a welfare system for the really poverty area's. I am also anti gun control, I believe that people should have the right to own a gun for recreational purposes or protection only. People also have the right to pro privacy, why should the news expose you to the community in humiliation.
So yea, I guess this is the box where I'm supposed to type who I am, what I believe in... Sometimes I find it hard to define my beliefs in black and white words, because my ideals are so radical. I claim my self-independent. I am the creator of my dreams and I'm not afraid to stand up for what I believe in.
I am a very open minded individual who falls in the middle of the political spectrum, but I lean towards the left. I think it is very important to keep an open mind to both sides of the spectrum in order to satisfy all citizens in this diverse nation.
I stand very strongly on the democratic view of equal education funding for the youth of America. I also believe in equal political rights for all citizens, pro-choice vs. pro-life, and decrease in the ratio of the "graduated tax" vs. flat, but I still agree with taxing by income. I call myself a moderate because I do have republican beliefs such as, less government involvement in the world of business and competition, but I do agree in government approvals and researches in order to secure the safety and happiness of the company, workers, consumers and environment.
CHRIS N. Republican
Hello, my name is Chris N. and I am single, 6 foot 3, 195lbs,
and I like to walk on the beach hand in hand with a highly intellectual
female partner. I am currently enrolled in Government because
I need it to graduate. I find it highly challenging seeing that
I sit between two crazy students. Well, back to me, I was born
in Kennewick, Washington on October 2, 1983. I enjoy playing football,
and then hanging out with friends at the mall. I also enjoy baking
cookies in my free time. "Would you like some girlscout cookiez?"(Gay
voice). Matt Weber is cute. I am enrolled as a senior at West
Chicago Community High School, but that is just until I get my
bus liscense, then I will control hundreds of little children's
lives. It's fun. After I retire from being a bus driver, I plan
to move to Montana and raise a cattle ranch for cows who have
been overmilked. After that I will enlist in the army at age 92,
and die in WWIII, when they drop the atomic bomb. I want to be
buried next to Elvis. Good bye, and just remember I may be driving
your son to school soon.
I declared myself as a republican because from what I have seen in class, my views tend to lean towards the republican side. In fact every one of my views in class lead me to being a republican. The only problem is that during the surveys and quizzes online, I found myself leaning a lot closer to a democrat than I had known. I feel I am a republican though, because my strongest opinions fall under the republican side. I feel that abortion is wrong, and the republican side is generally pro-life. The only thing I disagree with the pro-life statement is that I feel that if a women is raped or a victim of incest, she should have the option to an abortion. I also feel very strongly wtih the right side when it comes to censorship. I feel that there should be no censorship. It is not up to the government to control offensive material on TV, or the radio, etc. If you do not like to see something, then it is your responsibilty not to watch it, or to be sure that your children do not watch it. People need to be a little more independent as far as how they run their lives and raise their children. You can't rely on someone else, or the government to tell you what is good or bad. For every show on television, you will always have people who find it offensive, and you will have those who enjoy it. Republicans also feel that we need to set limitations on immigration to america, as well do I. I feel very strong about that point, there should be higher standards to be met if you want to live in america. Judging by my views on these topics, I feel I am a republican.
Some of my strongest views are immigration limitations and flat taxes. As far as immigration, I feel that it is way too easy to get into america right now. We need to set much stricter regulations on things such as language, and jobs. I feel that all immigrants should speak english, no question about it. English should be the official language of the United States, and it should be forced upon all immigrants. To enter the U.S., as a citizen, you must speak english, and also have a job lined up. We need to set up programs for immigrants to line up jobs in the U.S. I also feel strongly about taxes. I believe that the tax system needs to be set up as at a flat tax rate. I feel that just because you make more money a year than your neighbor, does not mean that you should pay any mre in taxes than they do.

COPPER T. Democrat
I My name is Copper Rebecca T., I was born April 20, 1984, and
the only kid in my family who was not born at home, but in a hospital.
I'm 17 years old, and have lived in the same house my entire life.
I have four siblings, one younger brother, Refe, who is a freshman
here, and three younger sisters ranging from 4 to 9 years younger
than me. I love to act, sing, and I enjoy sewing a lot. I would
love to spend the rest of my life acting in movies, and it is
my ultimate dream to help change the face of the media as we know
it, or own my own little shop where I would sell my clothes and
other creations. I guess we'll see what happens. All in all I
enjoy the simple things in life, and want it to stay that way.
After High school I plan to go to COD for a year to get my gen.
ed. out of the way for a way cheaper cost, then I am going to
go to Illinois Weslyan University for my soph. through senior
year. I am going to major in costume design, with a minor in theatre.
The reason that I know I am a Democrat is because of the way I feel about personal rights, and money. The way that I see it, taxes are generally a good thing. The more money that you do have, the more you can afford to give, so that others may have a chance to lift themselves up socially and monetarily. I do believe that since America is based on the concept of equality and the right to start on an equal plane, that the government should institute and regulate programs to help those who have been less fortunate than ourselves. Children should have equal opportunities to get a good education, and I think that the government should regulate student-related spending, so that every student is given the opportunity to succeed. No American child should be hindered by the circumstances into which they were born. I also believe that Americans should have equal rights in almost every, if not every aspect of life. That means equal rights for homosexuals, students, and the unborn. I think that, given the ideals on which our country was founded, we do not have the right to deny marriage to homosexuals, because we are denying the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That is just one example, but a controversial issue that I have thought about, and kept an open mind about.
There are a couple of issues that I feel very strongly about, and I am sure that I will find several more during the course of this class. One of those issues is abortion. I am undoubtedly pro-life. While I understand the point of view of the other side, I believe that fetuses are alive, and should have the right to be born. The child may not be breathing air yet, but it moves, kicks, and when it is aborted, especially during partial birth abortions, the baby will squirm and fight because it is obviously in pain. There are many things that you can do instead of aborting your baby, such as adoption, which has a very long list of prospective parents waiting to have a child. It is wrong for our country to condone the murder of our future generations, the people that will eventually shape the world that we will still be living in. The other issue is the death penalty. I am strongly opposed to capital punishment. Which makes me pro-life all along the board I suppose. I feel that since the American judicial system is not flawless, and mistakes are made, the death penalty should be completely abolished. There have been documented cases where inmates on death row were proven innocent by college classes, or appeals. It is unacceptable for even one innocent man or woman to die for a crime that they did not commit. Life sentences can be revoked, but LIFE cannot be given back once it is taken away. It is hypocritical for one of the most "advanced" countries in the world, to be in the minority of countries that murder their own citizens. How can a "civilized" country, act in such a savage fashion? Another issue that I feel needs to be addressed in our country is the issue of environmental protection. I think that our country, as well as the rest of the world takes our natural resources for granted, and that we are quickly ruining our earth. Stricter laws need to be put into place to protect our environment, because this is an issue that will affect us, and every generation after us.
DARAHLEE D. Republican
My name is Darahlee. My birthday is on June 13, 1984, I was born
in Berwyn, IL. I currently live in West Chicago and go to West
Chicago Community High School. I have 3 siblings with two sisters
and one brother. I have a love for music and singing. I currently
work at an insurance company called Wine Serge and CO. as an office
assistant. I plan on going to DeVry after i graduate highschool.
In the future I would like to work in the field of computers such
as major in CIS (computer information system).
I am a moderate republican. I believe that i am a moderate because I am more of in the middle yet still a republican. Even though there were some issues that I was on the emocratic side I still strongly believe that I am a republican.
Some issues that place me on the political spectrum is abortion
and taxes. I believe that there should be flat taxes. For abortion,
I am pro life but I believe that abortion should be done in extreme
cases if it has to deal with death. I also feel strongly against
discrimination. There are too many people in the world that are
prejudice and I believe that everyone is equal.
My name is Matthew. I was born in Merrillville, Indiana. We moved to Winfield, Illinois in 1989 just after my little brother was born. My brother is going to be quite the little stud when he gets a little older. You can see him at most of the home basketball games as our school mascot. My parents are moderate republicans who put way to much stress on me. I participate in basketball and track here at the high school. I am currently employed at Lifetime Fitness in the Child Center. I also participate in other various activities outside of school that I'm not going to go into detail about because it would just drag on and on. Now you know a little bit about me.
My party affiliation is with the Republican Party. I Consider myself a moderate republican. I will nearly always side with my republican counter parts but on some occasions I may agree with my democratic foes.
I consider myself a republican because of my views on several subjects. For example I am very pro life when it comes to abortion. Know matter when you believe a fetus begans life there is no doubt that the fetus will eventually become a child. I also appose further gun control. I believe that the second amendment was written for a reason and we should be able to defend ourselves. Lastly I believe that their should be a federal flat tax. Why should people who have earned a larger amount of money have to pay more to our government?
Hey everyone! My name is Nelly (yea, as in Furtado or Country-Grammar). I am a Capricorn. I was born on Jan.3, 1984, making me 17 years old, as of now. I am the middle child and the only girl. My family is Mexican, but I was born in Central DuPage Hospital. Throughout my whole life, my family has traveled to many different places around the country and to Mexico. My sophomore year, I had to opportunity to go to France on a 2-week long exchange program. That was fun. I've lived in good 'ol West Chicago my whole life. But, I plan on moving out of state when I get older. I love to play tennis. I've played for the Varsity Girls' Tennis Team here for about 3 years now. Ive also done stage make-up for the school musicals since freshman year. (Hey, if I cant act might as well use my skills helping out backstage right??) My hobbies also include creative writing, music, concerts, dance (tap and hip hop), watching SNL and hanging out with my closest friends. I will be graduating from WCCHS, in January of 2002. Yay! I will go to COD for 2 years (beginning in Jan.), and then transferring elsewhere for my major. Maybe Ill go to the University of Maine or San Diego State, just so that I can experience a whole new atmosphere while Im still young. I want to become either a psychologist or fashion editor and do make-up on the side who knows?? My best friends, Billie Schultz and Berenice Leal, and I are saving up money to explore Europe sometime in the near future. Hopefully Ill be happily married by the age of 24 and have a son (named Darius) and a daughter (named Mackenzie).
I am declaring myself a MODERATE DEMOCRAT! Mainly because times are changing and this political party is more modernized than the Republican Party. The government changes when it is necessary, which allows this country to grow. I strongly believe in the political rights for everyone, despite of race, age, sex, sexual preference or wealth. Were all humans here and should all be treated equally. I believe in Pro-Choice. I dont think that abortion is right, but it is the womans body. She should be free to do as she feels, under the circumstances of rape and such, without the government interfering in on that decision. I like how the government offers rules and regulations when problems arise. They dont wait to be taken advantage of, so they go into action and try to make this country a better place as a whole. Last, I also believe in college education and life-long learning for all. No matter what age a person is, they shouldnt be deprived from the privilege of having the opportunity for a higher learning, if they wish to do so. I think they should be encouraged even more. This will only benefit the people and help guide them through life!
The only reason why I am moderate is because there should be stricter gun laws. It should be harder to obtain these weapons, since they continue doing harm to us. I also believe in Capital Punishment. Murderers of innocent victims shouldnt be able to get away with their crime. Its just not fair. I think that they should get the same treatment that they had acted upon and just face the consequences.
