My name is Monica A. I was born in Delnor Hospital in St. Charles. I haved my entire life in West Chicago. I attended St. Mary's School from grades kindergarten to eight grade. I currently atten West Chicago Community High School. My favorite subjects are English and Math. I like to read mystery and thriller books. I also like to play basketball and spend time with my family. I hope to attend a 2-year college, have a successful job and get married. As of now, I don't know what my interests are.
The party I'm affiliated with is the Democratic Party. I say this because I believe in social equality. I think the people can make their ow n choices, without the help of the state or business regulation interference. I also think that laws passed should go to the rights /protections of the people and workers. I think the conservative side is greedy when it comes to money and opportunities. I just think that it's not fair.
I support the issue of abortion. I believe that it is a woman's choice whether or not she can have an abortion or not. It wouldn't be fair if she wasn't given that right. Another issue I support is the death penalty. If someone committed a crime, then that person should pay his or her consequences. Crime rate in America has been reaching its high and something needs to be done. A third issue I support and partly oppose is welfare. I do think we should help those who are less fortunate than us, but not use so much money. Sometimes I think they're taking a free ride, but in some cases it is not true. My overall opinion is that we should care more about the people since we are the ones living in this world. Everyone should get an equal opportunity and all the rights that come with it.
My name is Trevor. I was born and have lived in West Chicago all of my life. From first to seventh grade I attended St. Mary's School. In eighth grade I went to the West Chicago Junior High. I've been here at WCCHS ever since. Ever since eighth grade I've been working at the video store, Video Bug. I spend most of my free-time partying, playing pool, and going to concerts. After high school I plan to go to a university in Illinois and major in photography.
I still don't like the idea of having to choose a party affiliation. However, since I am being forced to, I'd have to say that I fall more on the Democratic side. I chose the left side because I believe very strongly in political rights for most people. I am against having the government chose what's best for the people. I think that the wealth should be distributed so that people can be more equal. I also feel that it is important that the Federal Government is strong because it is what keeps all the stated united. I just fell that people should have equal opportunities and equal rights.
One of the issues I feel very strongly about is censorship. I think that all forms of censorship should be completely abolished. No one should be able to control what someone else is allowed to read, see, hear, etc. This carries on to my views on abortion. I am pro-choice when it comes to abortion. Personally I am against abortion, but I don't think we have the right to choose for someone else. I think that the public schools should provide equal education for all students. I don't really care if this is funded by the federal or state government. Just as long as it is done and all kids are given an equal chance. Most of the issues that I feel strongly about are ones that are important to the left side of the political spectrum. Overall, I feel that people should be able to do most anything they want as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others.
My name is Nikki. I was born at Lutheran General Hospital on May 27, 1980. I lived in Chicago until i was two or three. Then I moved to Skokie until the end of third grade and moved to Mt. Prospect for two years. Since then I've lived here in unincorporated West Chicago. I've attended many different types of schools-Catholic and public but my best subjects have always been Social Studies and Art. At high school I began to get better at math (particularly algebra-related math) and I like Home Ec. My hobbies are swimming, photography, and collecting or saving animals. My plans for the future are to get married, have kids, have a high-paying job that's interesting, travel, and to never ever lose my sense of fun and adventure.
I am basically a moderate but I chose to be a democrat because I have some stronger feelings about certain issues on the democratic side. I will accept higher taxes only if they go for a good cause. I also think the worker deserves some support. I strongly believe there should be a distribution of wealth equally to everyone otherwise the whole country will never be truly powerful. On the other hand, I think business shouldn't be regulated unless it's illegal. Another Republican viewpoint I strongly believe in, is the death penalty.
I'm for Pro-choice; I believe anyone has the right to join the military as long as they follow military standards; the police shouldn't have the right to confiscate any deemed to be obscene or pornographic according to standards, etc. For the Abortion issue, I believe that if someone isn't ready to have kids then they shouldn't have any.My reason is the world is already so overpopulated with children and bad parents pretty soon there will not be any more room for anyone or anything else. The military issue is basically a big issue to me because I think that girls deserve a chance to prove to all men that whether they realize it or not women are stronger both mentally and physically.
My name is Chris. I'm an 18 year old black male that lives in West Chicago IL. but was born at Cook county hospital in Maywood IL. on January 10th 1979. I attened William P. Gray School in Chicago for eight years from first grade through eighth grade. Than came high school, in which I attended three of them. First came Austin high, Marshall high, now for my last two years I go to West Chicago high school. My favorite sudjects in school are gym, lunch, and writing workshop. My hobbies are playing sports like basketball and football. But I really love music. Making my own is what I would like to do when I get out of high school. I work at a fast food joint, but that's just for now so I can put some money in my pocket.
I dont't really know what my party affiliation, but I think I'm moving to the demacrat side because of some of the things they agree on, like the death penalty, I think there for and I feel very strongly about that subject. So that's what I'm going for.
My name is Miriam Vega I was born at Watsonville California. I lived there for nine years. Then my family moved to West Chicago, I have lived here for eight years. Since I have been here I attended to Pioneer school, Lincoln school, Turner school, Gary school and West Chicago Jr. High. My favorite subject is math. I'm mostly interested in cooking and babysitting. My plans for the future are going to college and getting married someday.
I'm a democrat, because I believed that all men are created equal, we all have freedom and we believe that people should make their own decisions and that the United states started with the immigrant and it should stay with immigrants.
My strongly support are for the immigrant, because I believed that if someday the government wants to get rid off all of the immigrants, he will be the first one out and the U.S will be lonely, because all of us in one way or another we are all immigrants.
My name is Kevin, and I was born in Illinois on October 1, 1980. I have lived in Carol Stream, Illinois all my life. I went to Evergreen, Benjamin and now W.C.C.H.S. I play guitar in a band, and have been playing for about 5 years. I plan to become an engineer after college.
I am a democrats because of the way I feel about many issues such as personal rights and freedoms. For all of these issues concerning personal rights and freedoms, I am on the left side.
Some of the issues that I feel strongly about are: the banning of censorship, the end to a drinking age and the end to a curfew, all to which I am on the left side. I support these issues because no one should have the right to tell you what you can and can't do, as long as you hurt no one else. This is the belief of the left side of the political spectrum.
My name is Evan and I was born in St. Charles, IL. When I was born I lived in Glendale Heights, I moved to Carol Stream when I was two years old. I also spent some time on my uncle's farm in a town called Marine which is in southern Illinois. My elementary school was called Evergreen, it is just across from my house. I attended Benjamin Middle School, and all through my schooling I have always enjoyed science and social studies. I do not have too many hobbies, I used to collect coins but now I spend much of my time either working on or listening to music, watching television, lifting weights, or reading. Many of my intrests lie in weaponry, music, and science. My future plans consist of entering the service then eventually going to college and hopefully becoming a pilot for a comercial airline.
Generally I consider myself neutral between the parties, but if I had to choose one side or another I would most likely be a democrat. Although I am rather liberal I can be conservative as well. There are no exact reasons for why I am a democrat, it just seems that more (not all) of the democratic views are of higher logic to me than republican views. I feel that political rights are important and I believe that wealth should be more equally distributed.
I have strong feelings about protecting the environment. I believe that we should protect the environment to the best of our ability, we have destroved it for long enough. I feel that abortions should be legal, just because someone makes a mistake doesn't mean that they should have to live with it for the rest of their lives. If someone is not ready for the responsibility of another person's life, it should not be forced upon them. I also believe in funding of organizations that make a strong effort to provide for those who are less fortunate. Funding for organizations of scientific exploration is also important. Scientific organizations are important because in the near future I believe that sciece will better our lives even more than it has already.
My name is Laura. I was born in Winfield, Illinois and have lived in Carol Stream. I currently live in West Chicago. I have attended Sandburg Elementary School, Pioneer Elementary School, West Chicago Middle School, and West Chicago Community High School. My favorite subject is math and I am undecided in a specific career.
I am a moderate democrat because I believe the workers should be treated equally and should never be exploited. The government needs to have control over the businesses to try to have equal wealth throughout the country. I, also, believe that things need to be changed and never be "traditional;" the world changes everyday and so should laws and regulations.
I strongly support having a minimum wage to have less employees be exploited. I am also pro-choice. I believe women should have the right in having or not having a pregnancy. I think affirmative action is good and helps minorities get an education. I believe most minorities need financial help and with affirmative action it helps them get that education. I believe the states shouldn't have much of the power because that just causes the country to be more separate and not be ONE whole country. Although, I do believe there should be lower taxes and most of the money you pay for taxes, should stay within your community and be used to benefit your town or city.
My name is Erich and I was born in Oak Lawn, Illnois. I have lived in three different places. Those places are Chicago, Batavia, and West Chicago. The schools that I have attended are Kindercare in Carol Stream, and Gary School, the Junior High and High School of West Chicago. My favorite subjects in school are science and Geography type classes. These are not my best subjects, but these are the ones that I am most interested in. I am also interested in sports. Some sports that I play include golf, soccer and basketball. I have had one real job. This job was full time in the summer of 1996. I worked at my father's work at Aurora Cord and Cable in Aurora. I worked eight hours a day for five days which is forty hours a week.
My party affiliation is Democrat. I am Democrat becasue I believe for the most part in pro-choice. I believe that for the most part you should have the freedoms to chose your own direction and what you want or need to do. I believe that I am more of a moderate Democrat becasue I believe in certain issues of Democrats and Republicans. Some choices I believe shouldn't be chosen by the people, but by the government.
The resons why I feel I am Democrat is because I don't believe in the death penalty. I believe that capital punishment is hypocritical. This meaning that the state is killing someone for killing someone. Becasue killing is illegal and not allowed to be done by anyone, but the state disobeys the law by killing the criminal. Another thing thaat I believe in is abortion. Even though this is killing a child before being born I believe if an abortion is to occur it should be done before the frist month is over to prevent child development. It is the mother's choice to decide whether or not to keep the child or not. I feel that if a mother doesn't care for the child and can't take care of it in the first place then there is no reason the child should have to go through with havinng a bad life becasue of the parents being irreponsible. The only way I would be a Republican would be becasue I believe in English as the Official language. I feel that if everyone spook the same language then this would be a better country becasue everyone could communicate better. What I mean is that if I were to live in Mexico ,for example, I would learn spanish.
My name is Amie. I was born at Hinsdale Hospital and since then I have lived with both of my parents in Warrenville and West Chicago, Illinois. In gradeschool, I attended St. Irene Catholic school in Warrenville Illinois. In my spare time I like to play and listen to music, community theatre, and play sports. I have always been interested in psychology , communications, and business. The first job I had was babysitting, I also worked in safety school, lifeguarded the past three years, and taught swimming lessons for the Park District.
I believe that I fit within the category of Democrat. First of all, I think that diversity is important. There should not be any discrimmination of rights because of race, gender, or sexuality. I also think that values change along with time, what people may have thaought was inappropriate a few decades ago may be necessary today. Finally, I think the U.S.has a moral responsibility to aid less fortunate countries. I don't think it is reasonable to plan on solving all of the problems everywhere, but we really need to devote some effort towards the people who look to the U.S., the most powerful country, for help.
Some issues that I strongly support are gay rights, animal rights, and freedom of expression. I think gay people should be able to fight for our country, get married, and hold jobs like anyone else. I also thi nk animal testing is completely wrong, except for medical purposes. I am against stopping immigration and capital punishment. Music censorship is another thing that I am against. I think it violates our right to express freely and it restricts the app reciation of art. American culture needs to develop a greater appreciation for art.
I'm 17 years old. My birthday in on August the 12th. I was born in a in city called Peine. I lived my whole live in Uetze. That is a small town near Hannover in Germany. I went to the " Realschool " in Uetze and my graduation was last july. I like to work with computer and other electronic stuff. I'm very interested in the world. That was one of my reasons why I came to the USA. I like to know how the life and the cultur is in an other country. I like playing soccer, tennis, baseball and volleyball. In the summer I go surfing and diving and in the winter I do skiing. When I go back to Germany I to go to a college. After my time inthe college I want to start working as an international travel agent for Lufthansa. In that job I can travel around the world and testing hotels, be a stuart in a plain and sell journeys to tourists.
If I were allowed to vote the democrats would be my party. The laws in the USA are to strict. I want to have more rights for the people in the United States. There are just two reasons to vote the republicans. I believe in capital punishment and pro choice for women to take the morning after pill.
The republicans are to strict. The USA needs less laws. The women have to do their own opinionsIn the political spectrum I'm on the left side because the humanity have to make their own decisions.
I'm a democrat !!!
My name is Mary and I was born at Resurrection hospital in Chicago. I lived in Hanover Park for five years and then moves to Carol Stream, where i am currently living. I attended Evergreen from kindergarten through fourth grade. I went to Benjamin from fifth grade through eighth graded, and I am currently a student at We-go. My favorite subjects are math and science. I am the member of the swim team, and I play the flute.I love to read and bake. I am currently working at a discount store in Glendale Heights. I plan to attend a four year college and major in Chemical Engineering.
I am a republican. Based on class discussions and all the information we have received I have to agree with more republican views than democratic. It also helps that I have been raised in a family with strong republican views. I am the right side of the political spectrum.
On the issue of abortion I am pro-life. I think it is wrong to kill anything that has a heart, and I believe that as soon as a child is conceived it is murder to kill it. I also believe in capital punishment, because it is wrong to kill someone and keep your own life. I also have very high family values. This is because of how I was raised by my parents who have instill these values in me. I do believe however that some government programs are necessary in order for the country to run smoothly. Welfare needs to be limited greatly, but is a necessary program to help people get up on their feet.In the end I am a moderate republican.
My name is Dan and I am a moderate republican. I have lived in Winfield, Illinois all of my life, I was born at Central DuPage Hospital in July of '80, and I have lived in the same house and neighborhood all of my life. I have attended school K-8 in Winfield Public Middle school, also I attended West Chicago Community High School freshman up until this being my senior year. My most favorite subject in school is government because I can display my views any way I want and there is no wrong answer. My hobbies are riding motorcycles, playing all sports and going out places with my girlfriend who is also a republican.
I am a moderate republican because I feel that there should be more power in the states and less in the federal government and all other issues I am really not on any side but I lean to the right side. I feel that I am a republican because I do not believe in change, and I want everything to be the same only if there is no chance for the sides to agree and compromise and everyone can get what they want. Personally I am against the whole right side left side thing, it shouldn't have to be you are one our the other you should be able to do whatever you want and believed in sole what you think as an individual.
I believe that everyone has a right to their own opinion and if they do something in ethical they will pay the consequences that are delt to that individual. Such as Abortion I feel no one has the right to tell someone else what to do only for the fact that 9 out of 10 times it doesn't have the slightest little influence towards that individual anyway.
My name is David and I am seventeen. I was born in Dupage County, Illonois on August 11, 1980. I have lived in three different towns since I've been born. In Glendale Heights I attended St. Mathews Elementary school. I moved to Carol Stream In 1989 when I had Attended Stratford Junior High. I then moved here to West Chicago where I attend West Chicago Community Highschool. My hobbies are playing baseball and being in leadership activities. My future plans are to become child Psycologist.
I have chosen to place myself in the Republican Party because I believe states having more power is better. I believe that a hard working man should be rewarded for his hard work. I am for a flat tax and the dealth penalty. I am also for abortion and I'm pro choice.
I think that Welfare gives people who don't try more than they deserve.
My name is Vince, I was born on september, 26,1979, at Central Dupage Hospital,in Winfield. I've lived in many places including,Mexico, Chicago, Glen Ellyn,Carol Stream,Glendale Heights, and West Chicago. The schools I attended are Pleasant Hill (K-5),Blackhawk for 6th,Hubble Middle for (7-8),Wheaton North (9-10),and West Chicago (11-12). My hobbies are building model lowrider cars.
I am a republican because I believe in lower taxes. I also believe that businesses should be able to set prices according to supply and demand. Another thing that i believe is that the government should not dictate.
One issue I strongly support is capitol punishment, because It should be an eye for an eye, you kill you get killed. I oppose abortion because its a living thing, and thats murder. therefore I am republican.
My name is Andy and I was born at Delnor Hospital in St. Charles, IL. For all my life I lived in West Chicago. I attended Turner School for grade school and went to West Chicago Junior High School and now go to West Chicago Community High School. One of my favorite hobbies is to work on cars. I plan on going to a technology school to become a mechanic.
I'm affiliated with the Republican party because I believe in many of their beliefs. I agree with capital punishment and that there should be a cut down on welfare spending. I also declare myself a moderate because I also believe in some of the democrat's beliefs. I believe that marijuana should be legalized because there is no real problem with it.
Some issues I feel strong about are capital punishment, legalize of marijuana, and abortion. I think that a criminal who murders someone should be killed himself. Many people say that marijuana is a bad drug but it really isn't because I know from experience. I believe that abortion should be left to the woman to decide if she wants it or not. Two of these ideas are to the left and one is to the right, but I still declare myself a Republican(moderate).
I was born in Elmhurst on April 18, 1980. My name is Peter and I am 17 years old. I lived in Lombard for the first 4 years of my life. We moved every year to different apartments until 1984 when we moved to West Chicago. I have lived in West Chicago ever since then and I have attended West Chicago High School, West Chicago Jr. High and Indian Knoll Elementary school throughout my life. I plan to attend Valpariaso University in Indiana and hope to major in Engineering and business. I enjoy almost all sports, my girlfriend, and working on my Mustang, and just having fun with friends.
I am a Republican, but I am not quite all the way to the right of the political spectrum because I also believe in the idea of pro choice. I believe that all hard workers should get rewarded for their hard work. I also believe that if you have worked up to the point where you are making tons of money, I don' t believe that the federal government should tax you more because you have worked hard to get where you are. There should be a flat tax rate no matter how much money you make. I also strongly believe that there should be harsher restrictions on welfare programs and a limit of one year on welfare. There is no reason that someone can not find a job in one year.
Some of the strong ideas that I believe in are the death penalty to people who murder and are convicted felons. I also believe that traditional family values should be reestablished and that would also cut down on the amount of delinquent teens growing up. Also I believe that the legalization of marijuana for limited use and medical use will not only cut down on the national deficit but also it will lower the power rested in the major gang kingpins because it will cut down on their market for marijuana.
My name is Brian P. I was born in Illinois, and have lived in Hanover Park and Carol Stream. I attended Evergreen Elementary School and Benjamin Middle School. I currently work at Dominick's Finer Foods where I am a cashier. In the future I plan to attend college where I will major in business or avionics.
I am declaring myself a Republican for the following reasons. First, I believe business should be free from government control. I also think those who work hard should be rewarded. Profit should not be spread evenly.
When it comes to issues, I am a diehard Republican. I believe we need to focus on the common working man. This means that we should not get involved in foreign affairs because America come first. I also think we need to spend more money on defense to insure American's safety. One thing every American needs is free health care. We need this because the working man does not need the financial burden of providing health insurance for his/her family.
My name is Randy. I was born in Winfield, at Central DuPage Hospital. The places that I have lived are: Glen Ellen, Wheaton, Aurora, and West Chicago. In these towns I attended Glen Ellen School, Schneider, Benjamin, and West Chicago Community High School. My favorite subjects are: gym, math and drawing. Some of my hobbies are playing soccer, and volleyball. I currently hold a job at Dominick's. My future plan is to go into the field of architectural technology.
My party affiliation is with the republicans. The reasons for this, is because of several reasons. One is that I believe that the government should play a small role in business. Some other examples are the flow of power should go the states, economic rights are a priority, and the market should be free.
An example of an issue that I strongly support is the elimination or the trimming of the welfare system. Their are those few it helps, but the majority of the other people abuse the system. I also strongly agree with the death penalty. Why should the tax payers have to pay for people that sit in jail for life, while doing no good for the common people. It is a waist of tax money . One more issue that I strongly agree with is that money generated threw a school district should stay in that district. Why should a tax payer have to better someone else kids education down state, when that money can go to help out the education of kids in their district. All of these views are ones of a person on the right side.
My name is Dominick. I've lived in West Chicago since I was a wee bit lad, and went through their schooling system. I like cars, sports, women, food, and the simplicity of life. I currently work at Jewel in the Farm Stand Department. I plan to work there until I join the United States Marine Corps next July.
I really don't belong to either party, for I have believe in many issues to the left and right. I think many people base their opinion on certain issues on whether they are a democrat or republican. I, on the other hand, don't need to belong to a party to help shape my views. I believe in certain things, and I'm not going to not believe in something just because it's democratic, etc. I stated I was a republican, because we had to pick a political party. One view on the right that I agree with is that the US comes first. There are always going to be problems in foreign countries, but domestic problems are much more important. Another view from the right that I agree with is capitol punishment. I feel that criminals should pay the price for serious crimes. The way criminals should be sent to death is by a firing squad while on public television. Also, being a Marine, I am totally anti-guncontrol. I think most guns should be legal for protection or sport.
Like I mentioned above I have a variety of views, so there are some democratic that I agree with. One is giving to those directly in need. However, I also think that there should be strict limitations on welfare and other similar programs. I mustn't go on for ever, so one more democratic issue that I agree with is being pro-choice. I personally don't believe in people having abortions, but I do think that couples should at least have their own choice. The government should not be able to do so for them.
My name is Julie. I was born in Park Ridge, Illinois on January 18, 1980. I am an only child and have lived in West Chicago for 15 years. I attended Evergreen Elementary School and Benjamin Middle School and am now attending West Chicago High School. My main interests in school have been art and english. I am presently working at McDonalds in Wheaton and after graduation I plan on joining the Army in the delayed entry program for 2-3 years and then attending Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. I plan to study interior design and earn my masters in fine arts.
I am a moderate republican. I believe in power to the states, capital punishment, lower taxes, the free market, and a small government. Power to the states is important because it is not right for the federal government to decide on important issues for the entire country when the majority belief may be different in each state. I believe in capital punishment as I don't feel it is right for citizens to pay for a criminal's education, medical care, food and other necessities for the rest of their lives when they have already added to the decline of values and basic morality in our society. Lower taxes, the free market, and small government are all important to business and our economy.
Some of the issues I strongly support are capital punishment, abortion (pro-choice), gay rights, and gun control. I oppose such issues as prayer in schools, affirmative action, and the regulation of welfare. I support abortion as it is the right of the individual to decide what is right for her not the right of the state of the country. I support gay rights as it is not the government's business as to one's personal life, other than that they are just the same as any other citizen and should be granted the same rights. I support gun control, there are guns out on the streets that have no business being there, if we combine education and start regulating gun control we may help solve our crime problem.
I oppose prayer in schools as I feel it is not right to set aside any time specifically for prayer in a a public school, it is the choice of the individual to take time out for prayer or any other religious rite that they seem fit to participate in. I oppose affirmative action as it is impossible to make up for the mistakes we made in the past. All we can do is choose the right path and follow that now. By discriminating others we will not make up for our past. We must treat each other as equals, that is the only way we will be viewed as such.
My name is Todd, I was born in Winfield at Central DuPage Hospital on July 14, 1980. I lived in Wheaton for eight years then I moved to Winfield and have there ever since. Now I'm seventeen and a senior at West Chicago Community High School. My favorite classes have been Psychology, Contemporary Life, and Child Development. I enjoy playing almost all sports. I enjoy being with my friends and making money. I've worked at Convalescent Center nursing home and worked construction with my father. I hope to attend C.O.D. for a year or two then join the Marines. I hope to major in Criminal Justice and become a detective for the L.A. PD or a F.B.I. agent.
I'm almost positive that I'm a Republican even though sometimes I doubt myself on what I believe. Even though I feel strongly on many topics I feel I'm only a moderate Republican which means I'm not too far on the right side of the political spectrum. I can't really explain the reasons for my selection except for I now my family is republican and thats probably how most people make their selection is through their families believes.
I strongly support pro-life also English being the official language of the United States. Another topic I strongly support is the death penalty and how it should be enforced more often. I'm opposed to the equal distribution of money through out the U.S. I also oppose the higher taxing of the wealthy- middle class. I support pro-life because this is murder and the baby has zero say on if he/she wishes to live or die. English language should be the official language of the U.S. I don't have to fight this topic it speaks for itself. Death penalty should be enforced because I believe in an eye for an eye. I'm opposed to the equal distribution of money because the people that worked hard for their money should not be punished.
