My name is Cristina B. I've lived in the same house here in West Chicago all my life. I 'm a senior at West Chicago Community High School. I have attended this school all four years of my high school career. I've had no complaints about any of the classes I've taken, but I have enjoyed some more than others. My favorite classes have been electives like food and nutrition, and child development. I recently quit work at McDonald's, and right now I'm looking for a job.
I have compared the main issues, and the beliefs of each of the two parties, and I have without a doubt proven myself to be on the left side of the political spectrum. I've come to the conclusion that the right side is more interested is self gain, and personal well being, while the left side is in favor of helping one another, and working together for the well being of our country. I just think the right side seems to be selfish and narrow minded.
As a democrat I strongly believe that the government should regulate businesses. I believe that business owners try to take advantage of workers for personal gain. Government regulation ensures that the workers make a decent wage for the work they have completed, that facilities are all in working condition, and that the workers rights are being considered. I also strongly agree that everyone should have equal opportunities, and that it is unfair to have some school systems spend 17,000 dollars per student, while others spend around 2,000 dollars. I feel that these are the two issues I most strongly agree with on the left side.
My name is Martin F. I was born the first of July, 1979, in Gothenburg, Sweden. In school I have studied the natural science program and my favorite subjects are math and sports. During my spare-time I like to play basketball and I will do my best and put a lot of effort to help the West Chicago baskeball team out this year. Since I am very fond of sports and am a guy full of energy, I think I fit in pretty good in West Chicago High School with all these sports events that it provides. The major future plans I have are to have a good year at West Chicago and then go back to Sweden to finish my studies there. After that, if possible, I want to come back and get a good college education while playing basketball. Hopefully I'll get a scholarship but that is very hard to get.
According to my opinion I am a moderate because I agree with both sides on different issues. The reason why I chose the liberal side was that I was convinced by the democrats during class. the way they convinced me was that I agreed with them on certain very strong issues such as pro-choice (up until two months), against death penalty, progressive taxes and equal rights.
PRO-CHOICE: The main reason why I believe in pro-choice up until two months is that anyone can make a "mistake", then think that you are 16 years old and you have a career to think of. My question is do you think it is fair to let her have the child, let us say she does not have room for one more at home and she does not have any money for raising the child. I do not think that is right. I do not mean that it is always a "mistake" and that you should use the pro-choice as a means of birth control, but what I mean is that it has exist an opportunity for those who really need it.
DEATH PENALTY: I definitely oppose the death penalty. From my point of view I think that everyone has a right to live, no matter what they have done. I know that I cannot put myself in a position where in fact many people have been, as for example someone kills your own child and want revenge, but I think that it is still not right to take another person's life because isn't that a crime itself? Maybe I'll feel the same in a situation like that but for now I'll stay with my own opinion.
Although few people call me by it, my name is Kevin Daniel B. I first attended Turner Elementary School before going to West Chicago Junior High, and now West Chicago Community High School. I spend most of my time outside of school either at work or trying to think of things to do with my friends. I was born in St. Charles, IL and have lived in the same house in West Chicago my entire life. My future plans are to build a huge animation empire and crush Disney into the ground.
I am declaring that I'm a democrat because while I disagree with both parties views, I disagree with the Republicans more. I support this by saying that Republicans are a bunch of slow too change, disillusioned, money hungry freaks. I say disillusioned because they do not see the world the same as realists. Family values are important but the way the country is now, they won't work. On the other side of the spectrum, I also believe that a progressive tax rate is the best so that economic gaps don't spring larger.
I believe affirmative action is only supplying jobs to unqualified populate fill quotas, that the trickle down theory is working fine, individualism is the backbone of our country and that if the states are given too much power they will eventually drift apart. These are two pretty far apart views on the spectrum which is why I disagree with so much that both parties stand for.
DINA K.
My name is Dina Rose K. I was born in Central DuPage Hospital. I lived in Hanover Park, Bowlingbrook, and now I live in West Chicago. From K-3 I lived in Hanover Park and I went to Elsie Johnson School, in 4TH grade I went to a school in Bowlingbrook, then I came to West Chicago and attended Pioneer 5TH and 6TH grade, then I advanced to the West Chicago Jr. High, and then I final reached the West Chicago Community Hich School. I realy don't haves a favorite subject in school I just like the discussions tha t the classes bring up, and being with my friends. I am currently working at the West Chicago Pizza Hut on Roosevelt Road, but I haves plans on getting a better job in communtications or human resources. I know I want to work with people and I don't want to sit in a desk all day long I have to keep moving. For my future I plan to work for a year and then go to the College of DuPage and the n maybe transfer to a different college.
I am a Democrat because I believe strongly in the individual rights of all human beings. I believe in Pro-choice a women has a right to choice her future. I also believe in freedom m of speech, people have a right to say what ever they want, were ever they want. I also feel strongly about gun control, you can own a gun but it should be monitored very carefully, and the person who owns the gun should have a full life background.
I strongly, strongly believe in equal rights , and the freedom of the individual. I believe people should have the rights to choose what they want to say, hear, think, feel, and do. I am also a beleive in pro-choice, because I believe that you should be able to make your own decisions. I do not believe in anti-gun control, because people with guns kill people. Take away guns and you just have people. But that will never happen, so I think we should just strictly control the gun population.
I was born on August 6, 1980 at Elmhurst hospital. I have lived in the same house for 17 years with my parents and two brothers. My parents got divorced 6 years ago. One of my brothers Sam who is 19, has his own apartment in Aurora. My other brother and I live with my mom. I have participated in choir for 4 years, girl ensemble for 1 year, and Jazz choir for one year. I have played soccer in high school, and I was on the swimming team Freshman year.
I am a moderate democratic because I am very Liberal. I belive in freedom of expression, gun control, privacy and the separation of church and state.
I am pro- choice because I belive it is a women choice if they want to go full term with the baby. If a women is on drugs, than I would hope that she got an abortion, because that baby could be born with defects and dysfunction the baby's life. That is why I am a democratic.
My full name is Malgorzata S.and I was born in Zabrze, Poland. I have lived in Germany, Seattle, and currently I am living in West Chicago. I have attended Gary Elementary School, Pioneer Elementary School, and West Chicago Middle School. My favorite subjects are history and math. I have worked as a telemarketer for Olan Mills Portrait Studio, and I was a waitress at Pizza Hut. I do plan on going to college next year, although I do not know where yet.
My party affiliation is a moderate Democrat. I agree with many issues on the right side, but I do believe that I am more on the left side. I do, however, agree in the death penalty. I have other issues that are on the right side but when push comes to shove, I am a democrat. Believe me, it was a hard decision to make. I kept going back and forth. All of the surveys helped me out.
One issue that I am concerned with is the right of the worker. The worker needs time off if needed, and he or she should get the money that they earn. I feel that everyone should be working more than minimum wage. Another issue that I am concerned with is abortion. I do not agree for it to be a method of birth control, but if the woman wants it she should have it. Lastly another issue would be in the federal government having the power. My explanation of the political spectrum is about forty percent Republican and about sixty percent Democrat. The truth is, majority does win.
My name is Clint K. I was born in Winfeild at Central DuPage Hospital. I've lived in Warnville till age five. Then I moved to West Chicago. Schools I have attended are Indian Knoll from 1st to 4th then Gary school from 2nd,3rd,5th,and 6TH. Then I attended the West Chicago Jr. High plus West Chicago Community High School. During my eleventh and twelve years of high school I attended Davea to learn more about culinary arts. Hobbies of mine are volleyball, cooking, football, and morning cartoons. My future plans are to become a master chef, get married, and open a chain of restaurants.
My party affiliation would have to be democratic. I believe in the people having a say in what goes on. I think that the central government should have more power than the individual states. I am also pro-choice, believing that it's the woman's choice what to do with her body.
Issues I strongly support would be less taxes, because there are to many of them. Businesses should be self owned, no government involvement. The businesses should make choices and not the government.
My name is Wonda S. I was born September 15,1978 at the University Hospital of Little Rock, Arkansas. I lived there for13 years then after my mother and father died my sister, my brother and I moved to up here to Maywood, Illinois. While living in Arkansas I went to about four different grammar shools. One was Boone Park Elementary School I went there my first year of school. Then in second grade I was transferred to Amboy Elementary School and I went there up until I was in third grade. Then I went to Argenta Elementary School until I was in sixth grade. Finally I was then transferred to Belwood Elementary School. I never had to attend seventh grade because once I moved to Maywood I attend Melrose Park Grammer School.
So they put me in eigth grade then finally I went to Proviso East High School for 3 1/2 years
now I'm finishing my last year at West Chicago. I have no hobbies at this time besides from writing poems. No real interest and no job. I plan to go to college to be a psychologist.
I am a Democrat and my reason for being so is because they have very open views on helping the people. I am also pro choice so that's another reason for my decision. Another is because my mom and dad were Democrats.
I strongly support pro choice and helping the people and no one can change my mind on that.
I' ve seen so many people who have lost their jobs after being there for about six years so why not help them in there time of need.
My name is Victor A. and was born in Mexico but me and my family moved to the u.s about ten years. I life in a house1109 Barber st. in West Chicago IL. and I attended pionner school, then transfer to terner school. From ther I whent to Jr. hight in West Chicago and know I'm a sinior in WChight schoool. Some of things I like to do is hear some hip hop miusic and break danse with my crew. I, also like to play soccer, basketball, and football. The last thing is that I work at Walt Mart in the toy diparment and some times cashier. Some of my future plans are to go to college and take some more droing classes in how to air brush stuff in cars, walls and others.
I think i'm in democrat side because they seam to care and put more atension in whats goin on in the world. Aslo, they will or most of them will help some one if they need some thing. Other things are
My name is Alejandra S. I was born January 10, 1980, and born in Chicago, I have lived in Mexico, Chicago, and in West Chicago. I have attended Gary and Turner schools in West Chicago. I went to the West Chicago Middle School and then to the West Chicago Community High school. My favorite subject is English. I don't have a job and I like to do anything that requires relaxation.
I consider myself a Democrat. I agree with most of the democratic issues. Their issues try to make things better. They try to make things work for the people. I think that people should have equal rights and the democrats are trying to make things work for the people. Democratic support the worker, they accept and agree with big federal government, and they agree with regulations of businesses all to help the people.
I strongly believe in affirmative action. I think that it is necessary to make the work area equal and fair for everyone, women and minorities. I also oppose the death penalty, I think that it is wrong and no one has the right to take someones' life. I would rather see the person rot in jail with no parole then to see them die and not suffer for what he/she did. It doesn't solve anything. I also think that there should be some control on immigration but not a lot. Immigrants should have the right to come into this country and contribute to helping it out. It's the immigrants who are out doing the below minimum wage job, immigrants are the ones out on the fields in the middle of the sun picking and growing the food we eat. I also agree with the government having regulations on businesses, it is the only way to assure that workers are getting the right treatment they deserve.
Hi, my name is Christina Angela C. I am currently a student at West Chicago High School. I was born on June first at Luthern General Hospital, in Park Ridge. I was born and raised in Chicago for the first four years of my life. Then my family and I moved to Wheaton, Illinois, there I went to Lincoln grammar school. We then moved on to Winfield Illinois we I currently live know. I attended West Chicago Middle School, and then moved on to the high school. Throughout my years in school I've enjoyed science as a subject. I come from a family of five, which includes one sister along with one brother. some of my hobbies include: biking, roller blading, shopping, ice skating and playing sports. I'm currently working two jobs one at Sears at Stratford Square and the other at a hair salon. I intend to graduate from high school and go on to college from there, were I hope to someday work in the medical field.
My party affiliation is a moderate democrat, I believe that we should have equal rights and have freedom of choice. I feel that the taxes help out with the schools and the fund raisers that go on. Even though the republicans feel taxes are too high, well without them we'd have no money to pay for anything. So, in this case I feel they are necessary. As far as where I lay on the political spectrum it's towards the left ,but in the middle.
Some of the issues that I believe in are I'm pro choice, I feel we need a strong central federal government to insure rights of the people, therefore, we must have a strong central government. I also feel we need government regulation of businesses for the good of the people. I also believe profits should be evenly spread, everyone has different values, through tolerance we grow.
My name is Kevin F. I was born at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield in 1980. I have lived in Winfield all seventeen years of my life. The schools that I attended were Winfield Elementry School for grades K-4 and Winfield Middle School for grades 5-8. Hobbies that I have are rock climbing, kayaking, backpacking, mountain biking, and hiking. After high school I plan to attend C.O.D. and get my associates degree in Architectural Engenering. After my two years at C.O.D. I will transfer to a four year university.
I clime myself to be a Republican because I belie in the death penalty, I am for military spending, and am against gun control. I belie that the death penalty is only fair if you kill a person that you should not live either. Also military spending is a must to keep up our strong defense Against other countries. Finaly gun control I belive should be stopped due to our constitutional right to bare arms.
I support these reasons because it is what I believe that these issues should be looked upon as matters that need to be taken seriously.
My name is Mike H. I was born in Ohio and I lived two different places there. I also lived in Pennsylvania before I lived here. I attended Winfield Middle School before the high school. I like to play volleyball and listen to all different kinds of music, and I work at Wyndemere as a waiter. I'm good at math and science and my favorite class right now is Economics. I plan to go to a 4 year college and major in Accounting.
I'm a moderate but I'm a little more to the right. I am for small government and I believe in traditional family values. I also believe that we should think of our country before any other. All of these issues put me to the right.
I strongly support capital punishment which puts me to the right. I don't think that people who take the lives of other people should be allowed to live themselves, and I especially think that our taxes should not be used to take care of them. I also believe in gun control which puts me to the left. I don't see how it could hurt to be more choosy on who we give guns to, or to have less of them out there.
My name is Dan . I was born in Addison but now I live in Forest Trails, West Chicago. I attended St. Phillips and St. Joseph grade school and now I'm a senior at WeGo. My hobbies are collecting basketball cards and auto magazines. I like playing basketball and softball. I'm also a good bowler. I'm currently a checker at Jewel-Osco, but I was a service clerk for a little over a year. My future plans include hopefully going to Northern IL., if not COD (College of Dupage) will have to do. I plan on studying broadcasting or to become a lawyer.
I'm a Republican. I believe in the death penalty and reduced goverment involvement with the people and businesses. We should have the right to make our own rules without the government being involved. I also believe in flat taxes, stopping immigration, and higher the age limits on guns.
I strongly agree with the death penalty! If you kill someone without a reason good enough, you should be put to death. An eye for an eye type of government is the way it should be run. I feel there will be reduced crime that way. Criminals will think twice before doing something they will regret! Criminals get off too easy the way the government today is running our justice system.
My name is Tony. I was born on 5 ,28 ,79 in Green Bay Wisconsin . I lived there until I was 1. Then I moved to Carol Stream . My parents got divorced when I was 5 . I moved with my mom to Winfield . Then my mom remarried . We moved to West Chicago when I was in third grade . When I was 12 my mom got a second divorce . I attended Gary school , west Chicago High , Wheaton Warrenvil South High, and Davea vocational school . My hobbies are wrestling , boxing , shooting , foot ball ynd shoot fighting .
I declared myself a republican because of there strong family values , but I will vote democratic on some issues such as abortion . I believe in more military spending , and I strongly support the second amendment.
My name is Alan A. and I live in Carol Stream and have lived there most of my life. I am a lifeguard at the Carol Stream pool and am also on the High School's swim team. I am very involved in church and am the captain of the Youth ministry team at Corpus Christy. I don't like school but I would like to extend my schooling and am planing on attending southern.
I can easily say that I am a Republican. I have know en this before I ever ok this class. Most of my beliefs are on the right side. I can however see where democrats are coming from in there arguments. On some Issues I am on the left side but I am more interested in issues where I lean to the right side.
Some Issues I feel strongly about are that the death peantey should be used more often to criminals that have been sentenced to jail for more than a life time. Why should some one sit in a jail cell alone with no chance of getting out? It just does not make since to me, and we have to pay for them. Some may say it is muter but to me the person is already dead.
My name is Anthony M. Z. I live in Carol Stream, Illinois and was born in Chicago. I have lived in two houses, the other was in Country Club Hills which is also in Chicago, Illinois. I went to Benjamin Middle School and am now attending Community High School in West Chicago. I have had two jobs in my life. The first was for two years in a grocery store, and the second is in a bank. I plan to go to a four year college near home and after I graduate I will get a full time job.
I am a moderate republican. My republican beliefs include taxes. I believe that taxes take away from people. I also believe in the trickle down economics. I belief in profit is that it is a reward for hard work. My belief that the government should regulate business is one of the issues that makes me moderate.
Some of the issues that I believe in are abortion. I am for abortion because it is up to a person to make the choice. Also federal aid to immigrants should not be given. Those are some of my republican beliefs.
I was born in Augustin, CA in the year of 19 and 79. I lived there for six years of my life. After that, my family moved here in good old West Chicago, IL. Since then I have attended all West Chicago schools. When I'm not weight lifting or playing the guitar,I enjoy playing sports and going on road trips. After this year I will be planning on going to the Coast Guard Academy in Annapolis, MD.
I had my mind made up from the start that I was a strong Republican. The choice was easy because I feel that the government should remain small, allowing more power to the states. Other minor reasons include lower taxes, harsher penalties and limited regulation of businesses. I also am against affirmative action and plans for minorities. If they want to be recognized as equal, they should work and get something because they deserve it.
There are many issues that I support and oppose. I am against the regulation of businesses by our government. They have no right to brake up a business because it is successful. I am also against life in prison. Why should we pay for a killer to live in a cell for the rest of their life. The power should be given to the states instead of having a too powerful government.
My name is Beth S; I was born in Central DuPage Hospital on March 3, 1980. I have attended three schools: Evergreen Elementary School, Benjamin Middle School, and now West Chicago Community High School. I plan on attending Northern Illinois University in the fall to study psychology and maybe education.
My current party affiliation is republican. I believe in many of the same things that the republicans do. I would however associate myself on the more moderate side of the spectrum. While I am very strong on my beliefs as a republican, I agree with many issues on the democratic side as well.
Some of the issues which I am very definite on are issues such as welfare. I believe that there should be major restrictions on welfare. People who request aid should get paid minimum wage and have to spend their time looking for a job at least forty hours a week. Another issue which I am very strong about is taxing. I believe that everyone should be taxed the same amount regardless of class or yearly earnings. I believe in this because I think that everyone has the same chances to do what it is that they see fit to, get things done. One last issue which I am very definite on would have to be prayer in public schools. If a student wishes to pray in school then they should have every right to do so. By being told that they can not partake in public prayer they are being violated of their fortst amendment rights of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. Some of the issues which I can see the democratic view on would be the issues or abortion, gun control, and capital punishment.
My name is Amie N., I was born on September 6, 1980 at Central Dupage Hospital. I have attended many school's in my life. During preschool, I attended Tick-Tock Nursery school, from kindergarten thru first grade, I attended Gary Elementary. From second thru sixth grade, I attended Lincoln Elementary. During seventh thru eighth grade, I attended West Chicago Middle School. Presently I am attending West Chicago Community High School#94, and in my last year at this school, I have attended this school for 3 and 1/2 years. Throughout my schooling, the classes I have enjoyed the most have been; dance, music, choir, and art. In my spare time, I attend a dance class at a dance studio called "Moves." I don't only take dance classes there I work there too. I also work at t.J. Maxx. When I am not working, learning, or dancing, I enjoy hanging out with my friends. My plans for after high school, are to take my basic study classes at MCC, in AZ, for two years, and then transfer to ASU, to start my career as a pediatrician. When I am through with all of my schooling, i hope to open my own health clinic.
I have studied a lot of different types of situations, to conclude to my opinion on whether or not I am a democrat or a Republican. I have come to the conclusion that I am a moderate Republican. I believe that taxes should be lowered. Also, I believe in the death sentence for criminals, who deserve it. I also feel that there should be limited regulations on businesses. Finally, i feel that they should tax the wealthy higher and give some to the poor, because a lot of the poor can not help it.
There are many issues that face the republican party that I strongly support, and there are many issues that face the Democrats that i strongly oppose. For example, I agree with the lowering taxes issues. I don't feel that our taxes should be Howard so that we can help pay for other people's communities, when some people can barely help themselves. I strongly oppose with the Democrats belief that distribution of wealth should be more equal. I oppose with that very strongly , I feel that they should take more taxes out of wealthy people's checks and give it to the less unfortunate people. I feel that Republican's point of view is more caring and everything that they believe in just makes perfect sense to me.
My name is L. Omar N. I was born in Delnor Community Hospital in St. Charles, IL. I've lived in West Chicago for 17 years. I've been to St. Mary's school for 5 years, 1 year in Pioneer School, 2 years at West Chicago Middle School, and currently at West Chicago Community High School. My favorite subject is math. I like to weight lift, play basketball, and chill with friends. I want to be an F.B.I. agent.
I would call myself a moderate Republican. I agree with little on the left, but more on the right. I agree with capital punishment and keeping traditional values. I agree having an abortion only if you get raped.
I oppose affirmative action. One should be given a job if they will help the business. I think the government should be involved less in society. The businesses should make their own rules. Taxes should be fair ,so they should be the same for everyone.
