The Social Studies
Department provides students with opportunities to improve reading, writing,
speaking, and listening skills through historical and current case
studies. A wide variety of electives gives Wildcats a chance to learn
more depth about groups in our society (Sociology), leadership and making a
difference (Community Leadership), individual personality and brain
(Psychology), crime (Criminal Justice), how to think (Philosophy), and conflict

High School was one of the first in the state to be recognized as an
Illinois Democracy School and is also the only school in Illinois recognized as
a Whole School Model for Civic Education by the Civic Mission for Schools.
