WeGo Care Packs
The “Care Pack Project” began in 2007 to honor the troops who serve our nation. The students from the Community Leadership class solicited names of servicemen and women from community members via press release and e-news blasts. The students then assigned the names of soldiers to advisory classes at the high school.
Each advisory was responsible for packing a care package with items suggested by VFW Post 6791 of West Chicago. The care packs contained food items, magazines, hygiene supplies, letters and cards.
Postage for the care packs was paid for by local businesses and organizations. The students from the Community Leadership class visited local businesses and organizations to raise the funds.
The Care Packs are mailed on Veteran’s Day so that the troops can have their packs in time for the holidays.
