Memorial Service Set for CHS Teacher Terry Zimmermann
Students and staff at Community High School in West Chicago were saddened by the loss of teacher Terry Zimmermann, who died October 25 at age 54 after a courageous two-year battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2003 in the Learning Resource Center at Community High School, 326 Joliet Street in West Chicago. Please enter at entrance H at the south end of the building. The memorial service is open to the public.
Mr. Zimmermann taught social studies at Community High School for 28 years. He also served as a Student Council sponsor. His commitment to children did not end at the school, however. He was a baseball coach for his sons and many other children through the Wheaton Park District.
Zimmermann is survived by his wife Andrea and his sons Geoff, Brandt and Brock, as well as other family members. Condolence cards may be sent to the Zimmermann family in care of Community High School, 326 Joliet Street, West Chicago IL 60185. A website has been set up for those who wish to post a memory of Mr. Zimmermann: www.wego2003.com/mrz. Those comments will be shared with his family as well. Donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the American Cancer Society will be appreciated.
"Terry Zimmermann was a man of great talent, dignity and courage," said School Superintendent Dr. Lee Rieck. "He will be greatly missed."
