Joint Winter Orchestra Concert Showcases Music Students from School Districts 94 and 33

A Winter Orchestra Concert for high school, middle school and elementary schools of School Districts 94 and 33 will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2003 at Community High School's Weyrauch Auditorium, 326 Joliet Street in West Chicago. The program is being performed during Music in our Schools Month. This is an opportunity for orchestra students of the community to perform together as they showcase the schools' orchestra programs for the delight of parents and other audience members.

Anne Branch will direct the high school orchestra, while Robin Amstutz will direct those from the elementary and middle schools. The grand finale will feature the combined orchestras. "In light of budget issues in District 33, this year's program is especially significant," said Anne Branch. "The concert will demonstrate how many children and teenagers are impacted by music education--especially strings education--and how valuable it is within the schools and the community. This will help students, parents and community members to see a big picture of music education," she added.

According to Branch, this event helps older students to see how far they have come and to get a sense of the importance of encouraging younger students in their music study. For younger students, it will excite them to hear the older kids play and see what they have to look forward to.

There is no charge for the concert, which is open to the public.
