Planning Seminar For Parents of the Disabled
Community High School in West Chicago will offer a planning seminar for parents of the disabled on March 11, 2003 at 7 p.m. in the Learning Resource Center. The program is sponsored by Community Partners in Transition, a group of parents, community members and educators at Community High School.
Tom Reilly, the founder of the Dignity Group, will focus his presentation on entitlement programs, wills, guardianship, trusts and life care plans. Reilly learned first hand of the problems of planning for a disabled family member as he helped his mother "set things in order" for his brother Bill. He realized how difficult it can be to work through the bureaucratic mazes established by the government, and how overwhelming it can be for parents trying to provide lifetime care and financial assistance for their disabled loved ones. Reilly took an early retirement from a 32 year career as a successful insurance executive to start the Dignity Group in 1991. This non-profit corporation is dedicated to the rights of disabled people.
Community High School is located at 326 Joliet Street in West Chicago. The meeting is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested. Contact Sharon Mooney at 876-6260 or Faith McWilliams at 790-4136 for reservations or to make arrangements for special accommodations.
