Community High School Senior Patrick Baur has been named a recipient of a National Merit $2,500 Scholarship. Baur was recognized for "academic promise and distinguished performance" in this rigorous nationwide scholarship competition. Winners had to demonstrate very high academic achievement and active participation in school and community activities. They also had to be endorsed by their high school principal.

"Patrick has been an extraordinary student," said CHS Principal John Highland. "He's not only highly accomplished, but a very nice young man as well. We expect great things from him in the future," he added. The scholarship award will be formally presented at Honors Night on May 29. Baur is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Baur of West Chicago. He gained recognition last year for earning perfect scores on the ACT and SAT tests.
