Megan Jones Named CHS September Student of the Month

Megan Jones has been named September's Student of the Month at Community High School in West Chicago. Megan is school spirit personified. As Pep Club President Megan has helped orchestrate some of the most exciting assemblies and activities in recent memory. Megan has been a member of Pep Club and choir for four years and is the secretary for the choir. She has also participated in Dance Production for the last three years and on the Pom Pon squad for two. Megan’s favorite high school memories involve the dance production shows she has participated in.

Although Megan is extremely involved in her school work and participation in National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society and keeping high marks to achieve the honor roll, she finds time to volunteer for the less fortunate. She provides meals for the homeless as part of DuPage P.A.D.S., teaches children as a youth lector at her church and makes frequent visits to the nursing home to visit with residents. This summer Megan plans on traveling to Guatemala to work with a charity for underprivileged children.

After high school Megan plans to attend a four-year university to major in Spanish with a minor in bilingual education. She hopes to become a high school teacher. If she could have any job in the world she would choose to be an American ambassador to a foreign country because she thinks it would be interesting.

A quote that describes Megan’s philosophy of life is "Hardly anything worth doing is easy." She states that if something is worth your time, it will take effort and hard work to accomplish.

Megan is the daughter of James and Rita Jones of West Chicago.
