School Begins at Community High School

The new school year will begin at Community High School on Monday, August 22. The normal school schedule will be followed all day. The cafeteria will begin serving lunches on the first day of school. The Learning Resource Center will also be in operation.

Teachers and staff have been working hard to ensure a productive, rewarding experience for new and returning students this coming year. The school requests that parents encourage their students to attend regularly so that they will have the greatest opportunity for success.

Principal John Highland has mailed packets with further details on the opening of school to parents and students. That mailing will answer many questions and minimize confusion on opening day. For further information, contact the school at 876-6200.

Student parking is limited in and around the school, and a towing service has been employed. Students are encouraged to choose their parking space carefully, because the cost of retrieving a towed vehicle is $125.

The Parent Open House has been scheduled for Thursday, September 22. More information on that event will be sent to parents in a few weeks.

The other important event occurring in the first month of school is Homecoming Week. A full schedule of events has been planned for the week of September 26-September 30. Students will be released early on Friday, September 30 to participate in a variety of contests and spirit events. The Wildcats will be playing Naperville Central High School. The varsity game will begin at 7:30 p.m.

Community High School serves most of West Chicago and portions of Carol Stream, Warrenville, Wheaton and Winfield.
