Scott St= aiton Named June 2007 Student of the Month

The faculty and administration of Community High Scho= ol would like to congratulate Scott Staiton, of Winfield, for being chosen Stu= dent of the Month for June.

Scott has quietly set a standard of excellence been du= ring all four of his years at CHS. He sums up his successful approach to life by suggesting that itR= 17;s a waste of time to “sweat the small stuff.” “Do everythin= g to the best of your ability,” he encourages others, “and if someth= ing goes wrong, if it won’t matter in fifty years, don’t sweat it now.”

For four years, Scott has played Varsity Golf, serving= as a Team Captain during his Junior and Senior years and receiving a Coach’= ;s Award. Scott has consistently performed well academically, and has been recognized by the Foreign Language National Honor Society, as an Illinois S= tate Scholar, and he has been nominated for Academic All-Conference on multiple occasions.

This fall, Scott plans to attend the University of Illin= ois at Urbana-Champaign. Although= he remains uncertain regarding what he will study while at college, he finds h= imself leaning towards business. He = hopes someday to possibly open a family business with his older brother. In his own words, Scott says, R= 20;I prefer to keep my options open and focus my efforts now on preparing for anything so I will have the greatest chance for success.” Scott is destined to be successful= in whatever area of interest he decides to study.
