Jazmine Martinez is Honored as CHS
October Student of the Month
Jazmine Martinez has been chosen Student of the Month for October at Community High School. She will be honored at the November 1 meeting of the CHS Board of Education.
"Everything happens for a reason," is the quote that best describes the philosophy of life for Jazmine Martinez. If people get what they deserve she can look forward to a rewarding future. Jazmine has been volunteering since the age of eight. She gives her time to hunger awareness weekend for the Northern Illinois Food bank, the Salvation Army, Humanitarian Service Project, REACH-a religious program for the handicapped, and community service for the elderly.
Jazmine has been inducted into the National Honor Society and has been on the National Honor Roll for six years. Also, she has been awarded the French Student of the Month award twice. Jazmine has participated in Student Council, Best Buddies, International Club, Choir, Operation Snowball, Tennis, Concert Choir, A cappella Chamber Choir and several school musicals and plays.
Jazmine says that her dream job would be in archeology because she would love to travel the world and discover new things. Jazmine currently works as a receptionist at Hometown Realty where she answers phones, collects data and runs errands.
After high school Jazmine plans to attend a junior college for two years and then travel to Madagascar for two years of missionary work. She plans on teaching children and adults to speak English and to learn about their culture. Upon her return Jazmine intends to study abroad in France, Italy or Spain for a year. After her travels she plans on majoring in archeology with a minor in linguistics. After college she would like to offer her services to the Peace Corps.
Jazmine is the daughter of Sergio and Juanita Martinez of West Chicago.
