CHS Student Katie Hodge Takes Second Place

at 2003 Skills USA Regional Competition

Twenty-eight students from Technology Center of DuPage took first, second or third place in 15 different divisions at the 2003 Skills USA Regional 1 Skills Competition. Among them was Katie Hodge of West Chicago who earned a second place in the Culinary Arts Division. Hodge is a senior at Community High School and a second year student in the Culinary and Pastry Arts and Hotel Management program at TCD. "We're very proud of Katie," said CHS Principal John Highland. "I know the regionals are highly competitive. We're looking forward to her performance at the state level as well."

The event was held December 2 at the Technology Center campus in Addison with over 250 high school students from nine northeastern Illinois Skills USA chapters competing in 29 divisions. Skills USA is a national student organization promoting business and leadership skills through conferences and competitions at the regional, state and national levels. The Region 1 Competition gives students a chance to prepare for the state qualifying trials in the spring.

Technology Center of DuPage offers area juniors and seniors 20 technical and career education programs as an elective part of their high school curriculum. Students may earn high school credit, college credit and any available industry certifications.
