Nils Higdon has been named Community High School Student of the Month for May. Nils has been a member of the band all four years and the jazz band for three. He has been a member of the orchestra that performed at the spring musical for two years. This past year he was chosen for both the Fox Valley Honors Band and the Illinois All-State Jazz Band.

Academically, Nils has been on the High Honor Roll for four years. He is also a member of the National Honor Society and chosen as an Illinois State Scholar. Nils was also a Voice of Democracy participant for three years. This year, Nils was chosen as a chief executive for the government simulation.

In addition to excelling in academics and extra-curricular activities, Nils has performed community service as an election judge for the DuPage County primary. He plans to attend Roosevelt University and major in Jazz Studies. Nils is the son of Phoebe Smith and Paul Higdon of Winfield.
