This was a busy and successful summer for Community High School graduate Christine Hendron. She placed sixth in advertising design at the USA Skills/VICA National Competition in Kansas City, Missouri on June 26. Hendron was Illinois State champion in that same category.

Later, she was chosen as first place Fine Arts champion at the DuPage County Fair. This was the second time she had won that championship. Hendron's design will be featured on the cover of the 2004 DuPage County Fair program. She is the daughter of Susan and William Hendron of Carol Stream and is now a freshman at Drake University in Iowa.

"I wasn't surprised to receive this news," said Community High School Principal John Highland. "Christine was one of our most outstanding students. She's a very talented young woman. We wish her continued success in her college career." Patty Clifford was Hendron's VICA sponsor at the high school.
