GUTER NAMED TO "WHO'S WHO AMONG AMERICA'S TEACHERS

Community High School's Director of Bands James L. Guter has been honored through inclusion in the 7th Annual Edition of "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." The publication honors our nation's most respected teachers. Guter has been Fine Arts Department Chairman at the high school since 1997. Earlier he taught and served in administrative capacities in music departments for school districts in Madison, New Jersey; Gloucester, Massachusetts; Fresno, California; Acton, Massachusetts, New Britain, Connecticut and New Lenox IL.

Guter earned a Masters in Music Education from Montclair State University. He served as vice-president of the Fox Valley Music Festival in 1999-2000 and President in 2000-2001, as a Board member for the New Britain Symphony and the New Britain Museum of American Art. He was founder and past president of the New England Scholastic Band Association, founder and director of the Central Jersey Wind Ensemble, Director of the West Chicago-College of DuPage Community Concert Band.

Guter has received honors from many organizations during his career such as the American Bandmasters Foundation, the Connecticut Music Educators, the National Education Association, the International Association of Jazz Educators, the National Band Association, the Illinois Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National Conference.

"We're very proud of Jim," said Community High School Principal John Highland. "He has accomplished wonderful things throughout his career as well as within our Fine Arts Department. It's good to see his accomplishments recognized."
