Community High School to Celebrate 25th Anniversary
of German Exchange Program
Community High School will soon celebrate the 25th anniversary of its exchange program with the Simon Marius Gymnasium (college prep high school) in Gunzenhausen, Germany. Eleven students from the Gymnasium will be visiting Community High School with their teacher, Margit Fuchs, from April 10 through April 27. During their stay, they will live with a family in the community, attend school every day and make presentations to classes throughout the entire school, and participate in field trips designed to familiarize them with our area. Besides visiting sights in the West Chicago area, they will visit places in Chicago as well. They will be visiting Navy Pier, Millennium Park and the Art Institute. They will get a chance to go to a theatrical production this year.
To mark the anniversary, there will be a special celebration and reunion for anyone who has ever participated in the program. This celebration will take place on Saturday, April 22, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. in the High School Commons. The celebration will include welcoming speeches as well as entertainment by the Jazz Band, Chamber Choir and the Acoustic Band 20 Minutes to Park. Anyone who would like to attend the program, please tell them to contact Terry Mitchell Strohm (tstrohm@d94.org and phone 876-6387).
CHS students who are hosting the German students include Megan Carnes, Ed Ford, Jonathan Glenn, David Kelsey, Meghan Larson, Scott Lichtfuss, Brad Rathe, Dan Rizzo, Bee Vollmuth, Eric Wiechert, and Andrew Wirtz. Ann and Bob Hein will be hosting the visiting teacher.
