Community High School teacher MaryEllen Daneels recently had two articles published in What?! Another New Mandate? What Award-Winning Teachers Do When School Rules Change by Randi Stone. The book recognizes innovative teachers and explores creative ways of responding to the changes and challenges that teachers face today. Daneels's articles included "Student-Centered Objectives: Solid Ground in the Tides of Change," and "The Power of Dialogue."
Daneels has been teaching Social Studies and Alternative Education for eleven years. She has been listed in Who's Who Among America's High School Teachers from 1990 to the present and was chosen to be State Coordinator for the Dirksen Congressional Center to Promote Civic Education. She has also received an award for Class Webpage from Midlink Magazine's Honor Roll of A+ Web Sites and was recently featured in Cable in the Classroom magazine. Daneels credits her success as a teacher to mentoring and collaboration with colleagues as well as to support from administration.
