ART WORKS '03 TO SHOWCASE
SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY TALENTS
Art Works '03 will be presented on Saturday, March 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Commons at Community High School, 326 Joliet Street in West Chicago. The event is free and open to the public. It will showcase the many talents of Community High School students, staff and other community members. Presentations and exhibits will range from music to art, from speech and drama to clothing design.
A large variety of student and professional artwork will be on display including paintings, drawings, photography, ceramics, computer and caricature drawing. The forensics team and drama department will each perform. The Family and Consumer Science Department will have children's storybook reading and demonstrations of clothing design and computer sewing.
There will be music technology demonstrations, performances by the string orchestra, various string solos and ensembles. The chamber singers will perform as well as a variety of vocal groups. The jazz band and combo will perform as will a variety of instrumental solos and ensembles.
The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission will be present and will display art by community artists. There will be drawings throughout the day for items that have been donated by students, staff and professional artists.
Refreshments will be available in the food court by VICA of Community High School. James L. Guter, Fine Arts Department Chair at Community High School, is coordinator of the event.
