Not of Irish descent, but looking for a reason to celebrate St. Patrick's Day? Then join the After Prom Committee of Community High School District 94 in West Chicago as they bring the community together to support a safe after Prom experience for junior and senior high school students and their dates.
Saturday, March 17 is the date for the St. Patrick's Day Bash and Silent Action that will take place at the brand new Tivoli Galleria, 956 Route 59 (in the Tower Station Centre) in West Chicago beginning at 7:30 pm. The ticket price of $20 per person includes hors d'oeuvres and dessert, and live music provided by This End Up. A cash bar is available, and attendees must indicate their designated driver upon entering the event.
Community police departments call prom month the "deadliest month of the year". The Committee invites all members of the community to come together to help keep our high school kids safe on prom night. The After Prom event was started by a group of parents in 1994, and thanks to parental and community support, has continued every year since. By giving high school students an alternative to home parties, hotel rooms, and camping trips, we can offer them the opportunity to "hang" together in a safe, substance-free, adult chaperoned environment to continue the Prom night fun, and create lasting memories.
This year, students will be bussed after Prom to Navy Pier to board the Odyssey for a moonlight cruise of the Chicago lakefront. Busses will depart from the Prom, but will also depart from Community High School to allow juniors and seniors who do not attend Prom the opportunity to go on the cruise. The proceeds of the St. Patrick's Day Bash & Silent Auction, coupled with donations from individuals and corporations, will lower the cruise ticket cost and allow more students to attend. The Committee's fundraising goal is to subsidize the ticket cost for all and in addition, offer more substantial scholarships to students in financial need.
Donations for the Silent Auction and cash donations for the after prom event are still being accepted. Call Mary Beth Taylor at 664-9366 or Deb Ramsey at 202-9654 to make a donation. Tickets for the Bash & Silent Auction may be purchased at Tivoli Ristorante, State Bank of Illinois, Pal Joey's/Papa Nicholas, or by calling 251-0251. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.
Plan to join parents, teachers, community members, business owners, alumni, and community leaders on St. Patrick's Day as they come together for the safety and benefit of our future; our kids.
