House Bill 704
Land of opportunity for Illegal Immigrants
There is a problem in society today. That problem is that many illegal immigrants are living in the U.S without documentation. Most of the immigrants come over for a new opportunity for a better life. About 8million illegal immigrants live in the United States.
There are many facts that demonstrate that this is a problem. One problem is that last year, there were 8 million illegal immigrants. About 400 hundred thousand got deported last year (Gavett). In 2006, there were mass protest and student walk out that shook the country (Gale). That happened because they wanted for immigration rights. Also, companies lose a lot of money when they get caught with illegal working immigrants. (Gale).
There are many possible solutions to the issue. We believe that the federal government should grant amnesty to the illegal immigrants. We believe that not all the illegal immigrants will be able to receive this amnesty. The illegal immigrants will need to meet some requirements to receive the amnesty. Some of the requirements are as followed, live in the us for 6 years, no criminal record, pay taxes, show proof of work.
There are many people who might oppose our plan. If you grant an amnesty it would not be fair to the immigrants who go through the regulatory and administrative requirements to enter the country legally. “The economic and social consequences of illegal immigration… are staggering…Illegal aliens have cost billions of taxpayer-funded dollars for medical services… immigration is a net drain on the economy; corporate interests reap the benefits of cheap labor, while taxpayers pay the infrastructural cost… $60 billion dollars are earned by the illegal aliens in the U.S each year.” (CAIR) There is an estimated 8.3 million illegal aliens are part of the American workforce despite not being legally authorized to work in the United States. (Gale)
Even with this opposition, we believe that our plan will work for many reasons. Many illegal immigrants come to the United States for a better life. Illegal aliens come to the United States to take jobs that offer them greater opportunity, and they are often welcomed by U.S. employers who are able to hire them for wages lower than they would have to pay to hire U.S. workers (FAIR) ex. (Maids and housekeepers, Taxi drivers and chauffeurs, Butchers and meat processors, Grounds maintenance workers, Construction laborers, Porters, bellhops, and concierges, Janitor) (CIS).
In conclusion, we believe the problem in society of illegal immigrants should be addressed by granting the illegal immigrants amnesty. The amnesty has requirements, we will not give amnesty to just anybody. The requirements are as follow: live in the U.S. for 6 years, no criminal record, and show proof that the illegal paid taxes, show reason why to stay in the U.S.

This article discusses why the government should rethink the idea of granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. One reason that the article gives us is, there are many jobs that Americans don’t want. Everyone has heard before, that the Americans are complaining: “they are taking our jobs”. Yes, that’s true but they take the jobs that no American wants. The article says that companies hired thousands of illegal workers because they will work for less pay than an American citizen. The article also says that when companies fired there illegal immigrant workers, the companies stated to lose money. The companies had to hired legal citizens and they had to pay those workers the right amount.

This article discusses that illegal immigrants should be offered second-class citizenship. I strongly agree with this article. Illegal immigrants should be offered second-class citizenship since they had been living here. They should have that for six years, and then have full citizenship after those six years. This article will change the viewpoints on most Americans and letting the illegal immigrants have citizenship. This article changes my viewpoints as well. It was very convincing and gave good detail. This website (GALE) is a great website for finding good essays and arguments for almost every topic. I would recommend this website to all my fellow government classmates. This website is the best one for government relate topics and many other classes as well.

This was an article that has pros and cons on illegal immigration. This was a really good article to find. We use this article and it was the second best one. It gave us both sides of the story. It gave us the good side and the bad side. This article was good in text and gave us very detailed examples. I would recommend this website to anyone that is looking to argue about a topic. You can research that topic and find out the good and bad about it in this website. This article came really handy.

This was a great article against our bill. This article stated that illegal immigrants should not get amnesty. I was against this article because of my bill. But I had to research on why it would be bad.
